By Dan Ambrose: On Saturday night, #1 ranked WBA/WBO light welterweight contender Victor Ortiz (28-2-1, 22 KO’s) will be facing his best opponent since he was stopped in the 6th round last year by Marcos Maidana in June 2009. Ortiz, a big southpaw puncher with power similar to Maidana, has won his last four fights since his loss and has looked good. However, his opposition hasn’t put much pressure on him the way that Maidana did, and this has left Ortiz to dominate with his power and speed. On Saturday, Ortiz will be facing the highly skilled Lamont Peterson (28-1, 14 KO’s) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This fight could very well be the most competitive fight of the night because the Khan-Maidana bout has a chance to end early if Maidana connects with one of his big shots on the chin of Khan.

Weigh in results: Bradley 138lbs, Peterson 139lbs
By Peter Wells: At Last nights weigh-in, Timothy Bradley came in a pound lighter than lanky challenger Lamont Peterson ahead of their WBO Light Welterweight showdown tonight. Both fighters looked absolutely incredible, the best condition I’ve ever seen either of them in, and trust me they are always in great shape, but last night they both were ripped to the bone. Tim comes in at 138lbs with a record of 24 wins no defeats while Lamont came in at 139lbs, one pound below the limit and boasts a 27-0 record, with 13 knockouts. It should be an incredibly interesting fight tonight and one I can’t wait for, it is an extremely interesting fight, a fight that is hard to decide.
