Golovkin TKOs Ouma in the 10th

By Dan Ambrose: Making his first defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) World middleweight title unbeaten champion Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18 KO’s) stopped former IBF junior middleweight champ Kassim Ouma (27-8-1, 17 KO’s) in the 10th round at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama. TGolovkin, 29, hurt Ouma with a series of hard shots in the 10th round and was punishing him on the ropes when the referee Guillermo Perez stopped the fight at 1:57 of the round.

Golovkin vs. Ouma this Friday

By Jim Dower: This Friday night unbeaten WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (20-0, 17 KO’s) will be defending his title against number #8 ranked WBC contender Kassim Ouma (27-7-1, 17 KO’s) at the Arena Roberto Duran, in Panama City, Panama. This will be the second title defense for the 29-year-old Golovkin and it should be a real test of how good he is.

This isn’t the fight that boxing fans wanted to see from Golovkin. Many of them were hoping he would face unbeaten interim WBA middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam instead for a battle between unbeaten middleweights.

Lyell Defeats Duddy; Rosado Decisions Ouma

duddy668By Jim Dower: Well, I knew it was going to happen sooner or later once he stepped up against some quality opposition. I just didn’t think that middleweight Billy Lyell (19-7, 3 KOs) was going to be the one to do it. Earlier tonight, Lyell shockingly defeated top middleweight contender John Duddy (26-1, 17 KOs) by a 10-round split decision at the Prudential Center, in Newark, New Jersey. The final judges’ scores were 96-94, 98-92 for Lyell, and 97-93 for Duddy.
