Khan: I could fight Bradley or Marquez, so I’m OK

khan4045By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan says he’s got options for some big fights if he can’t get either Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Pacquiao in 2015. Khan specifically sees himself being able to get fights against either Tim Bradley or Juan Manuel Marquez if he doesn’t land one of the big stars in Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Khan doesn’t say whether he actually would take the dangerous step in facing Bradley or Marquez, but rather those guys are possibilities for him if he wanted the fights.

Marquez probably won’t fight again if his knee doesn’t recover, says Beristain

marquez000005By Dan Ambrose: Manny Pacquiao conqueror Juan Manuel Marquez’s future is in doubt right now due to a knee injury he suffered in his last fight a year ago against Mike Alvarado in May of 2014.

Marquez easily won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision, but the win came at a high cost with Marquez injuring his knee. The injury still hasn’t healed and it’s unclear when it will.

In the meantime, Marquez will be turning 42-years-old in August and he doesn’t have a lot of time to sit around waiting for his knee to heal up.

Bradley targeting Brook, Marquez and Bundrage

bradley3567By Allan Fox: Former two division world champion Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) is targeting fights against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, IBF junior middleweight champion Cornelius Bundrage or 41-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez in 2015, according to Bradley’s trainer Joel Diaz.

Bradley was held to a 12 round draw in his last fight against Diego Chaves last month in Las Vegas, Nevada. While Bradley fought well enough to arguably deserve a narrow 12 round decision win, he still looked terrible in the fight and took a lot of punishment.

Marquez: Mayweather beats Pacquiao but he won’t KO him

jmm_ko_pacBy Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao conqueror Juan Manuel Marquez believes that Floyd Mayweather Jr would be too good for the soon to be 36-year-old Pacquiao if the two fighters wind up facing each other in 2015.

Marquez, who has faced both of them, believes that Mayweather has too much for Pacquiao to deal with if that fight gets made. However, Marquez doesn’t think that Mayweather would be able to score a knockout over Pacquiao the way that he did, because he doesn’t see Mayweather as that type of fighter.

“Floyd would win, but no knockout,” Marquez said via estoenlinia.com. “We know that defensively Mayweather is the best in the world.”

If Not Mayweather, Maybe Marquez?

Yannis Mihanos: Last Saturday night we saw a very skilful display of boxing by Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao came to this fight with a lot to prove, some of his critics had previously refered to him as a tired veteran, but all these rumours got silenced during the fight.

Pacman was in sparkling form, crisp, sharp in his movements and athletic as always… aggressive enough to knock Algieri out many times. I do believe that the old Pacquiao would have stopped Algieri right after the 9th round but it is the new more humble side of Pacquiao that didn’t let him to finish what he started and let Algieri instead regroup and continue until the end of the fight.

Marquez: Why fight Pacquiao a fifth time?

marquez5By Chris Williams: 41-year-old former 4 division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) says he’s been offered a ton of loot to face WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KOs) for a fifth time, but Marquez doesn’t see the point in continuing to fight the aging Filipino fighter since he defeated him decisively by a 6th round knockout in their last meeting two years ago.

Marquez figures that he’s already beaten Pacquiao four times already, and been robbed on three of the occasions. Fighting Pacquiao a fifth time would be totally redundant because it’s something Marquez has already done so many times previously.

Juan Manuel Marquez to make retirement decision in 2015

marquez7776676By Chris Williams: Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) says he’ll be making a decision about his boxing career in early 2015, whether to continue or retire. Marquez hasn’t fought since last May when he defeated Mike Alvarado by a 12 round unanimous decision.

That’s going to be the only fight for the 41-year-old Marquez in 2014 unfortunately. Marquez also fought once in 2013 when he was beaten by former WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley by a 12 round split decision.

Why is Arum talking Pacquiao vs. Marquez 5?

marquez124By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: On September 2nd of this year, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum told The Independent (a UK based newspaper) that Manny Pacquiao could fight Floyd Mayweather Jr twice in 2015. In that same article he claimed it “appeared” that Showtime and HBO wanted to the do the fight.

In the same month on the 11th, Arum said he was contacted by both networks and was told how they would jointly handle the fight (as told to another UK newspaper Telegraph Many fans geared up somewhat with excitement, but I remained calm to wait for more information. My patients prevailed as Arum then told Dan Rafael that Marquez could potentially fight Tim Bradley or Manny Pacquiao in April of 2015.
