Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) is insisting Golden Boy put the fight together with the Top Rank promoted Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KOs) for May 12 on ESPN, even though by doing so, Golden Boy would be competing with themselves due to them having the Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez vs. Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin replay taking place on the same night on HBO.

Gamboa destroys Solis: Don’t hold your breath waiting for Gamboa-Lopez

By Scott Gilfoid: Yuriorkis Gamboa made a strong case for himself that he deserves to be considered the best fighter in the featherweight division with his 4th round knockout win over Jorge Solis at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Gamboa started off the fight on the outside but quickly had Solis on the deck in the 2nd round. Gamboa would follow with four more knockdowns before the fight was eventually halted in the 4th round with a dazed looking Solis wondering what hit him. Image: Solis: Gamboa hits harder than PacquiaoBy Chris Williams: Hard-hitting Mexican Jorge Solis (40-3-2, 29 KO’s) described the experience of fighting WBA World featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (20-0, 16 KO’s) as “Terrible” after getting knocked down five times on Saturday night and stopped in the 4th round at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Solis, 31, never had a chance as Gamboa was both too fast and too powerful for him to deal with. After the fight, Solis had this to say about Pacquiao’s power in comparison to Gamboa: “Pacquiao doesn’t hit that hard. He throws a lot of punches but he doesn’t hit that hard.”

This is yet another fight where boxing fans are expected to watch Gamboa fight someone that they’re likely not too familiar with while they wait for a distant future bout against fellow Top Rank fighter Juan Manuel Lopez. Gamboa-Solis is a decent fight but not the one boxing fans want to see.

Gamboa vs. Solis on 3/26

By Chris Williams: Rather than stepping up and finally facing Juan Manuel Lopez after all these years, WBA Super World/IBF featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (19-0, 15 KO’s) will be taking on WBA interim super featherweight champion Jorge Solis (40-2-2, 29 KO’s) on March 26th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This isn’t the fight that boxing fans want to see of Gamboa. They want to see him face Lopez. They know he can beat a guy like Solis, because that guy already got spanked by Christobal Cruz in 2009.
