Don’t hold your breath waiting for Haye-Klitschko

Image: Don’t hold your breath waiting for Haye-KlitschkoBy William Mackay: If you’re hoping that World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (24-1, 22 KO’s0 will be fighting one of the Klitschko brothers any time soon, think again. I don’t expect Haye to fighting both of the Klitschko any time soon, and probably not until 2011, if at all. Judging by how evasive Haye’s manager/trainer Adam Booth whenever the Klitschko’s names were brought up, I think it’s safe to assume that neither of the Klitschkos will be on the agenda for the next fight.

Analysis: Haye looks good, but there are still questions to answer

Image: Analysis: Haye looks good, but there are still questions to answerBy Alan Ross: David Haye beats tough, durable, worthy challenger John Ruiz impressively – or does he just beat up an old man who never really had much chance? Let’s dive a bit deeper into what we’ve learnt about Haye from his performance against Ruiz.

First of all, let’s get one or two things clear: Haye had to fight Ruiz, or lose his title. This was no handpicked opponent; yes, Ruiz is 38, but he came into the contest in good shape, and he is known to be an awkward customer who can take a punch and keep going.

David Haye silences critics

Image: David Haye silences criticsBy Craig Macguinness: Saturday night saw David ‘the Hayemaker’ Haye stop John ‘the quite man’ Ruiz in Round 9 of the World Boxing Association heavyweight title clash. Haye has received much criticism regarding his chin, fighting style, and whether he could handle a true heavyweight in John Ruiz. David Haye Provided a great spectacle and an exciting fight even against some would say a boring fighter such as Ruiz. Haye knocked Ruiz to the ground with a thunderous straight right within 20 seconds of the first round.

Time for Haye doubters to eat their humble pie

Image: Time for Haye doubters to eat their humble pieBy Steven Wain: There are a lot of people who have had doubts over World Boxing Association world heavyweight champion David Haye, well here is YOUR change to eat that humble pie. Last night we witnessed one of the best heavyweights of this decade destroy a very respectable opponent in John Ruiz and as much as some of you narrow minded (Americans) people would like to disagree and make up bizarre claims that “Ali would destroy Haye!” oh give me a brake the guys are not even from the same decade.

Haye vs. Ruiz: The moment of truth is here for David

Image: Haye vs. Ruiz: The moment of truth is here for DavidBy Scott Gilfoid: Well, it’s finally here, the moment of truth for World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s). The boxing world will get to see if Haye is for real or just another pretender heavyweight faking his way with bluster. Haye has to put up or shut up. If he can’t get by the 38-year-old Ruiz and if he can’t look good in beating him, Haye’s stock will likely plummet dramatically. That’s just the way it is.

Haye will run from Ruiz all night – Fight Prediction

Image: Haye will run from Ruiz all night - Fight PredictionBy William Mackay: Tonight, WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) puts his World Boxing Association title on the line against John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. While I’m really hoping that Haye comes to fight this time, I don’t expect to do much more than he did in his last fight five months ago against Nikolay Valuev in November. In that fight, Haye ran for the 12 rounds, throwing right hands from time to time, and throwing little better than 10 punches per round.

Haye: “There doesn’t seem to be an ounce of fear in Ruiz”

Image: Haye: “There doesn’t seem to be an ounce of fear in Ruiz”By Jason Kim: For a fighter that thrives on having opponents that are outwardly showing fear of him and making poor decisions in the ring, World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) could have a problem on his hands tonight when he faces two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. To be sure, Ruiz has been beaten a number of times during his career, but only two of those eight losses have been conclusive ones.

Haye-Ruiz: Can David give John the beating of his career?

Image: Haye-Ruiz: Can David give John the beating of his career?By Peter Wells: In David Haye’s first defence of his World Boxing Association Heavyweight title he has to take on a fighter who’s seen it all and is as tough as they come. John Ruiz a boring brawler who ruins fights and frustrates opponents into defeat. John Ruiz is a tough American who has a great pedigree. He has beaten Evander Holyfield and twice been close against Nikolay Valuev. He may not be classed as a big puncher but he has succeeded in flooring Holyfield and that isn’t easy.

Haye: “If I lost to Ruiz it would be devastating”

Image: Haye: “If I lost to Ruiz it would be devastating”By Scott Gilfoid: One of the worst things that World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye (23-1, 21 KO’s) could imagine is if he was to be beaten by two-time heavyweight champion John Ruiz (44-8-1, 30 KO’s) on Saturday while fighting in front of Haye’s home crowd at the M.E.N. Arena, in Manchester, England. Haye says in an article at the Dailystar, I don’t want to think that he [Ruiz] is coming to take anything off of me. The way I have prepared is that I am feeling like I have to take something off Ruiz. I need to stay hungry and not allow someone like Ruiz to mess it up for me in front of all my fans.”
