Broner, 25, is predicting a knockout victory over the hard hitting Molina, although it’s hard to see that happening in light of Broner’s recent performances.

Mayweather decisions Maidana; Santa Cruz crushes Roman; Bey defeats Vazquez

_DSC7248(Photo credit: Idris Erba/Mayweather Promotions) By Jim Dower: WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 27 KOs) put on a boxing clinic tonight in defeating challenger Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KOs) on Saturday night on the “Mayhem” Card at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The final judges’ scores were 115-112, 116-111, 116-111. Maidana It’s hard to understand what the referee was watching who scored the fight 115-112. It wasn’t that close unless the referee was counting Maidana’s many missed punches as shots that landed.

“He bit my hand and that caused my fingers to be numb. I couldn’t use my hand for a while because my finders were numb,” Mayweather said.”I felt sharper in the first fight. My fingers felt numb after the 8th round. I give my self a C minus. I got hit with some shots I shouldn’t have got hit with. I’m going to go back to my team and assess what my team decides. I don’t know who I’m fighting in May. If a fight against Manny Pacquiao presents itself then it’s possible.”

Molina eager for Matthysse rematch

matthysse233By Dan Ambrose: John Molina (27-4, 22 KO’s) isn’t satisfied that he fought a good fight in losing to Lucas Matthysse (35-3, 33 KO’s) by an exciting 11th round TKO last Saturday night in Carson, California; Molina says he wants a rematch with the 31-year-old Matthysse to see if he can improve upon his performance.

“I thought we had him hurt a couple of times,” Molina said. “He’s a great fighter. I would love to fight him again. I’m think I’m getting better. His power is pretty good. I think 140 is my weight now.”

Matthysse vs. Molina results: The Machine stops The Gladiator in the fight of the year

Lucas Matthysse vs John Molina(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Robert Earle Stanton: Saturday Night, April 26th, on Showtime’s double header of a great card we got to see a runner up if not fight of the year when Lucas “The Machine” Matthysse went to war with John “The Gladiator” Molina.

I predicted, as most, that Matthysse would make easy work over Molina even though Molina came in with a solid record of 27 wins with 22 KO’s and 4 losses (The biggest one for the WBC Lightweight title when he got TKO’d by Demarco in the first and that was at lightweight – this was a five pound higher division) yet he had only been knocked down once and did posses power – known as “The Comeback Kid” on Shobox last year they showed his last round KO victor over undefeated Mickey Bey who was winning the entire fight until in the last and final 10th round when Molina stopped him.

Thurman defeats Diaz by injury stoppage

thurman344By Dan Ambrose: WBA interim welterweight champion Keith Thurman (23-0, 21 KO’s) stopped 34-year-old former IBF lightweight champion Julio Diaz (40-10-1, 29 KO’s) in a 3rd round stoppage on Saturday night at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA. In between the 3rd and the 4th rounds, Diaz’s corner decided to halt the fight due to a rib injury that he had suffered in the 3rd.

Thurman hit Diaz with a hard right to the body in the 3rd round. Diaz didn’t show any sign signs of being hurt during the round, though, and he seemed to get the better of Thurman during that round.

Matthysse destroys Molina in 11th round TKO

matthysse21By Dan Ambrose: In a fight of the year candidate, Lucas Matthysse (35-3, 33 KO’s) showed incredible heart to get up off the deck twice to stop the game John Molina (27-4, 22 KO’s) in the 11th on Saturday night at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA. Matthysse knocked Molina down three times in the fight in dropping him in the 8th, 10th and 11th rounds.

The fight was halted at the start of the 11th after Matthysee cornered a badly beaten Molina up against the ropes and flurried on him until he hit the canvas. The referee Pat Russell then stepped in and halted the bout with Molina still down on his back.

Weights: Thurman-Diaz, Matthysse-Molina & Figueroa-Belmontes

Keith Thurman and Julio Diaz(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: WBA interim welterweight champion Keith Thurman (22-0, 20 KO’s) made weight on Friday in for his fight against 34-year-old Julio Diaz (40-9-1, 29 KO’s) on Saturday night at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA. Thurman weighed in at 145.5lbs. Diaz came in at 146.5lbs.

This fight is essentially a stay busy fight for the 25-year-old Thurman, even though Diaz recently gave Amir Khan and Shawn Porter all they could handle. Diaz is still not considered to be in the same league as Thurman, and it’s going to take a miracle for him to pull off an upset in this fight.

Matthysse wants rematch with Danny Garcia after Molina fight

Lucas Matthysse(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32 KO’s) is hoping that a win over John Molina (27-3, 22 KO’s) this Saturday night will lead him to a rematch against WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia, according to RingTV. Matthysse was beaten by Garcia in a clinch-filled fight last September on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez card. Matthysse had been doing well against Garcia despite his running and clinching, but once he caught an elbow in the right eye, it closed his eye and changed the complexity of the fight.

If Matthysse can’t get the rematch against Danny Garcia, he’ll stay at 140 or two or three more fights. Matthysse could face IBF light welterweight champion Lamont Peterson in a rematch or wait around to fight for the vacated WBA and WBC 140lb titles that Garcia vacates, as he plans on moving up to the 147lb division.
