By William Mackay: This time, unbeaten Tyson Fury (11-0, 9 KO’s) left little question that he was the better fighter by stopping John McDermott (25-7, 16 KO’s) in the 9th round in their rematch on Friday night at the Brentwood Leisure Center. Fury, 22, dropped McDermott three times in the before it was finally stopped in the 9th. After the fight, Fury said “I won the English heavyweight title tonight and I’ll beat [Derek] Chisora as well.” Fury wants to fight the unbeaten Chisora next.

By Sean McDaniel: Looking slow and lethargic for much of the bout, the 22-year-old 270 pound Tyson Fury (11-0, 9 KO’s) came on in the 9th round to TKO John McDermott (30-7, 16 KO’s) on Friday night to capture the vacant BBBofC English heavyweight title at the Brentwood Centre, in Brentwood, Essex. Fury showed good power in the fight, knocking McDermott down three times before the bout was stopped in the 9th round by referee at Dave Parris at 1:08 of the 9th round.

In an article at Boxrec.com, the 22-year-old Fury says “I had a lot of tough sparring in Germany up to five days before the fight, which may or may not have been a factor.” Yeah, right. I’m not buying it, Tyson. I wish he would just admit that he faced a guy that gave him a beating and who many people think should have won the fight.
