Weights: Kovalev 174.5, Mohammedi 173

kovalev111(Photo credit: HBO/Will Hart) By Dan Ambrose: IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (27-0-1, 24 KOs) made weight on Friday afternoon in coming in at 174.5 pounds for his title defense against No.1 IBF Nadjib Mohammedi (37-3, 23 KOs) on Saturday night on HBO from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mohammedi weighed in at 173.

Kovalev looked like he was about to start laughing during the stare down when the two fighters faced each other. Mohammedi was looking menacing at Kovalev, and it didn’t seem to bother the Russian fighter at all. He seemed to take it as a big bluff on Mohammedi’s part. Kovalev is a huge 100-1 favorite to win in some betting circles.

Pascal interested in facing Bermane Stiverne at heavyweight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqFS7P1tZLg&feature=youtu.be
By Dan Ambrose: Following his 8th round stoppage defeat at the hands of IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev last Saturday night, Jean Pascal (29-3-1, 17 KOs) is kicking around the idea of moving up to the heavyweight division to face former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-2-1, 21 KOs).

Pascal, 32, says he would weigh between 200-210 pounds for the fight against the 36-year-old Stiverne, which would mean that Pascal would be giving away 30 to 40 pounds against the 240lb Stiverne. That’s a significant amount of weight for anyone to be giving up in a fight, but it would be potentially worse for Pascal because he would have nothing to keep Stiverne off of him.
