Kell Brook: Khan will eventually be forced to fight me

SHEFFIELD-BROOK-DANN3(Photo Credit: Lawrence Lustig) By Scott Gilfoid: Having no luck in getting Amir Khan (30-3, 19 KOs) to commit to a fight against him, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (34-0, 23 KOs) is now saying that the 28-year-old Khan will eventually be forced into facing him due to the boxing public demanding the Khan-Brook fight. I’m not sure when that’ll be.

With the guys that Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been matching him up against, I really don’t know if we’re going to see the boxing public demand the Khan-Brook fight in mass due to there being much better fights for both of them.

Khan congratulates Kell Brook on “easy work” win over Jo Jo Dan

brook54By Scott Gilfoid: While IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (34-0, 23 KOs) was making a big deal about his 4th round stoppage win over #1 IBF challenger Jo Jo Dan (34-3, 18 KOs) tonight at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, Amir Khan called it “easy work” for Brook, which was a backhand compliment.

Khan knows what a lot of boxing fans know about the Brook-Dan fight, and that was it was a mismatch from the moment the contracts were signed. The IBF, with their upside down rankings, had Jo Jo Dan ranked #1 instead of #15. They even had Dan ranked above Khan, Tim Bradley, Diego Chaves and Devon Alexander, despite the fact that Dan had been beaten twice by Selcuk Aydin not long ago.

Kell Brook: I’m going to make a statement against Jo Jo Dan

brook3By Scott Gilfoid: Despite fighting a guy who some boxing fans feel has a badly inflated ranking, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) feels he’s going to be able to make a statement tonight in his fight against #1 IBF Ionut “Jo Jo” Dan Ion (34-2, 18 KOs) in their fight at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

When I picture a fighter bragging about wanting to make a statement, I see a fight that is a competitive one on paper between two talented fighters that are fairly evenly matched in terms of boxing skills, power and speed.

Brook deserves respect for Dan defence, not criticism

brook6677By Gav Duthie: The fact that Kell Brook’s 33-0 (22) first IBF title defence against Ionut “Jo Jo” Dan Ion 34-2 (18) hasn’t sold out the modest Sheffield Motorpoint arena tells its own story. The mandatory challenger known as Jo Jo Dan could be aptly named Who Who Dan as fans on both sides of the pond question his legitimacy as the IBF #1 contender.

My feelings are different though as it is not Brook’s job to decide who his mandatory challenger is and I give him lots of respect for taking this challenge considering the recent events in Brook’s life since he won the title from Shawn Porter.

Kell Brook: Jo Jo Dan will be very dangerous

brook55By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) claims that his opponent for this Saturday night #1 IBF Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KOs) is a dangerous fighter despite him having very little punching power, and having been beaten twice by Selcuk Aydin in the past.

It’s hard to take Brook seriously when he talks of Dan being dangerous, because he’s not a puncher, he’s a boxer.

Kell Brook: Jo Jo Dan has earned the right to be in the position he is in

brook55By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) thinks that his March 28th opponent #1 IBF Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KOs) has earned the fight to be the International Boxing Federation #1 welterweight mandatory challenger to face him at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

I’m not so sure that the 33-year-old Jo Jo Dan has properly earned the fight based on wins over quality opposition. The IBF may have given Dan the inflated #1 ranking with their organization, but he’s not even ranked in the top 15 by any of the other sanctioning bodies, and that kind of tells you something.

Kell Brook: I want the mega-fights after the Jo Jo Dan bout

brook356(Photo Credit: Mark Robinson) By Scott Gilfoid: Newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) figures he’ll be ready for the mega fights against the likes of Manny Pacquiao and/or Floyd Mayweather Jr after he makes his first defense of his IBF title at the end of this month on March 28th against #1 IBF Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KOs) at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

It appears that Showtime Championship Boxing is trying to put Brook into position to face one of those guys, because they’ll be televising the Brook-Dan fight, which shapes up to be a horrible, horrible mismatch.

Kell Brook to battle Jo Jo Dan on 3/28

brook955By Scott Gilfoid: Just as I thought, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KOs) has decided to face Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KOs) in his next fight on 3/28 at the Motorpoint Arena, in Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

It was officially announced earlier today by Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn. The fight itself is more of a case of Brook facing a 2nd tier guy because Dan, 33, is a very mediocre welterweight. I mean, we are talking about a fighter who twice was beaten by Selcuk Aydin, and those defeats weren’t very long ago.

Jo Jo Dan now Kell Brook’s IBF #1 contender

fight night-0007(Photo credit: Amanda Kwok/SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook may have learned who his next opponent will be last night after #2 IBF Jo Jo Dan (34-2, 18 KOs) defeated Canada’s Kevin Bizier (23-2, 16 KOs) by a 12 round split decision at the Colisee de Quebec, Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.

The judges scored the fight 115-112, 114-113 for Dan and 114-113 for Bizier.

Dan is a light puncher with not much in the way of defense and hand speed. In other words, he’s the perfect stay busy fight for Brook for his next fight in March.
