By Dan Ambrose: Abel Sanchez, the trainer for WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (23-0, 20 KO’s), sees Golovkin giving EBU middleweight champion Grzegorz Proksa (28-1, 21 KO’s) a terrible beating on Saturday night in their fight on HBO from the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York.
Golovkin, a former Olympian from the 2004 Olympics, has been dominating all of his sparring partners around his own weight class while getting ready for this fight, and has been forced to train with light heavyweights and cruiserweights in order to find guys that can stand up to his huge punches. The thing is Golovkin has been beating up the light heavyweights and cruiserweights he’s been sparring with. That tells you a lot about Golovkin’s power.
