By Jim Dower: Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KOs) is saying he’s going to send IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Andre “SOG” Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) into retirement when the two of them face each in a rematch on June 17 on HBO PPV. Kovalev thinks he was robbed by the 3 judges in his last fight against Ward last year. This time, Kovalev doesn’t plan on letting the judges decide his fate against Ward. He plans on knocking the 2004 U.S Olympic gold medalist Ward straight into retirement.

By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten #1 WBO lightweight contender Felix Verdejo (23-0, 15 KOs) had one of his worst performances of his young five-year pro career last Friday night in winning a very questionable 10 round unanimous decision against unranked Oliver Flores (27-3-2, 17 KOs) at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Flores appeared to do enough to win the fight, but the judges gave the decision win to the Puerto Rican fighter Verdejo by the scores of 99-91, 96-94 and 98-92.

By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten #1 WBO lightweight contender Felix Verdejo (22-0, 15 KOs) will be fighting this Friday night in a tune-up fight against Oliver Flores (27-2-2, 17 KOs) in a scheduled 10 round fight at the Coliseo Roberto Clemente, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

With a win over Flores, Verdejo will likely be fighting for a world title against WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan on June 10 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Verdejo’s promoter Bob Arum has already reportedly booked the arena for the Flanagan-Verdejo fight.
