The positive result came up from the sample A.

However, the second sample hasn’t come in yet and expected that it won’t be in until after the fight. Angel Garcia, the father of Danny Garcia, is threatening to have Garcia pull out of the fight if the second sample comes up positive.

Weigh-in: Garcia vs. Morales II, Malignaggi vs. Cano, Quillin vs. N’Dam, Bailey vs. Alexander

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia easily made weight at 139.2 lbs on Friday during his weigh-in for his bout on Showtime this Saturday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The big surprise during the weigh-in was that Erik Morales was able to make weight at 139.8 pounds. This must have been a load of relief for Morales and his team, because he failed to make weight last March when he fought Garcia in Houston and lost his WBC title on the scales.

Sulaiman: Morales rumors are false

Image: Sulaiman: Morales rumors are falseBy Dan Ambrose: WBC president Jose Suliaman is dismissing reports about former WBC light welterweight champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KOs) testing positive for a banned substance clenbuterol in a test by the USADA. Morales is facing WBA/WCB light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KO’s) in a rematch on Saturday night at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York.

Sulaiman said this about it as quoted by Fightnews.com: “These rumors are false…The WBC rules stipulate that a drug test should only be performed in the locker room before or after the fight. That’s all I accept…Only the Boxing Commission and WBC have the authority to reveal a positive test.”

Erik Morales fails drug test

Image: Erik Morales fails drug testBy Gareth Rees: One day before his rematch with Danny Garcia (24-0) for the WBC and WBA Light Welterweight tiles, it has been reported Erik Morales (52-8) has failed a drugs test. Morales the former four-weight world champion was hoping to avenge his unanimous decision loss to Garcia back in March this year, on Saturday night at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn.

The early reports have suggested that Morales’ ‘A’ sample tested positive for clenbuterol, a drug that is commonly used by asthma sufferers but can be used as a performance enhancing drug. ESPN has reported that the fight is likely to still go ahead as the ‘B’ sample is currently being tested and the results will not be available until after Saturday night.

Danny Garcia: Morales is a tougher fight than Khan

Image: Danny Garcia: Morales is a tougher fight than Khan(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By William Mackay: WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KO’s) sees his fight this Saturday night against 36-year-old Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KO’s) as being a lot tougher fight than his bout against former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-3, 18 KO’s) last July. Garcia knocked Khan out in four rounds in a fight where Khan hit the canvas three times.

In contrast, Garcia had to struggle to defeat Morales by a 12 round unanimous decision last March in a fight that saw the 24-year-old Garcia suffer a broken nose at the hands of Morales’ powerful jabs.

Erik Morales: I’m going to make Garcia look bad on Saturday

Image: Erik Morales: I'm going to make Garcia look bad on Saturday(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: While former four division world champion Erik Morales (52-8, 36 KO’s) is considered a huge underdog going into this Saturday’s Showtime televised bout against WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (24-0, 15 KO’s), Morales sees himself winning this fight and making Garcia look bad in the process. Morales is going to have to fight on a much higher level than he did the last time he fought Garcia last March.

Morales looked completely out of his class in losing by a 12 round decision, and the only reason he’s getting a rematch with Garcia now is because Morales had a rematch clause in the contract with Garcia. If not for that there’s no way that Garcia would have wasted time in fighting Morales a second time because there just isn’t any fan interest in this fight. Indeed, if you look around the boxing internet forums you’ll find very little discussion about this fight.

Quillin-N’Dam & Malignaggi-Cano on Garcia vs. Morales II undercard on Saturday

Image: Quillin-N'Dam & Malignaggi-Cano on Garcia vs. Morales II undercard on Saturday(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Jason Kim: Unbeaten middleweight contender Peter Quillin (27-0, 20 KO’s) will be facing WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (27-0, 17 KO’s) and WBA World welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi 31-4, 7 KO’s) will be defending his title against #10 WBA Pablo Cesar Cano (25-1-1, 19 KO’s) on the Erik Morales vs. Danny Garcia II fight card on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight will be televised by Showtime in the United States.

This will be a good chance to see what the 29-year-old Quillin is all about because he’s been matched pretty carefully most of his seven year pro career and hasn’t faced anyone that you could really call a good fighter. He’s good power, but he’s been matched with care, keeping him away from the biggest threats in the division.
