https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNkqx1r8TeQ&feature=youtu.be

By Chris Williams: Tim Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KOs) is confident of victory this Saturday night against WBA light welterweight champion Jessie Vargas (26-0, 9 KOs) in their fight for the WBO interim welterweight [147] title at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

This is a Top Rank card, and the winner of the fight could inherit the WBO welterweight title from Floyd Mayweather Jr. if he doesn’t pay the huge $200K sanctioning fee that the World Boxing Association is asking for him in order to keep the title.

Erik Morales thinks Canelo can beat Mayweather

06MayweatherandCaneloatDaisIMG_3770(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Erik Morales believes that the youth and size advantage that WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) will have over Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) in their fight on September 14th could be enough for the 22-year-old Canelo to win this fight.

Morales also thinks Mayweather’s age could be a factor in this fight, because Morales thinks he’s seen Mayweather coming close to getting beaten by Shane Mosley in the not too distant past.

Erik Morales faces potential 2-year ban by USADA

morales2132By Dan Ambrose: Former four division world champion Erik Morales could receive a 2-year suspension from boxing by the Anti-Doping Agency for Morales testing positive for a banned substance from his 4th round TKO loss to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia last October.

Morales has until February 18th to notify the USADA to let them know whether he’ll contest this, according to RingTV. The problem is the USADA reportedly doesn’t have the power to give out bans for fighters, so it’s an empty ban by them.

Hurrah for Erik “Terrible” Morales!

Image: Hurrah for Erik “Terrible” Morales!By Gerardo Granados: After seen several news reports and read sports columns that state that it was regrettable or even sad to see how Erik Morales was knocked out, I could do nothing else but to disagree. How can there be shame when losing against a fighter that most sports writers consider to be the best light welterweight?

In a Boxing era in which most of the organization champions avoid the top contenders and instead cherry pick their opponents picking the ones who are tailor made for them in order to look good, I can only thank Erik Morales for having the stones to face dangerous fighters through his entire boxing career. How can it be important that he was knocked out in his last fight when he gave fans so many epic battles, let´s not forget that it was Morales who gave the first title shot to Danny Garcia.

Erik Morales likely to fight once more before retiring

Image: Erik Morales likely to fight once more before retiring(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Allan Fox: Erik Morales (52-9, 36 KO’s) took yet another loss last Saturday night in losing to WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) by an embarrassing 4th round knockout at the Barclay’s Center, in Brooklyn, New York. The loss was the third in the last four fights for Morales and it’s now more than ever clear that the 36-year-old former four division world champion needs to hang up his gloves so that he doesn’t taint his legacy further.

Morales reportedly will be fighting once before he retires. Morales wants to end his career with a final fight in Mexico. It’s unclear who he’ll be fighting, but it’s pretty obvious that he needs to fight some a little lower ranked than the guys he’s been fighting recently. Morales has now lost twice to Danny Garcia and once to Marcos Maidana. Morales did do a good job of beating Pablo Cesar Cano last year, but he still took an awful lot of punishment in winning that fight.

In the 4th, Garcia, 24, landed a picture perfect left hook that connected to the jaw of Morales that sent him down bouncing on the canvas as he landed. The referee then immediately halted the fight.

The 36-year-old Morales previously tested positive for the banned drug clenbuterol during tests on October 4th and October 10th, putting tonight’s fight between Morales and Garcia in jeopardy. Morales said last night on his twitter page “No need to worry about the psychological issue. I’m very focused on the fight, I’m a clean athlete.”
