Alexander says his speed, skills and southpaw stance are going to give Khan a lot of problems when they get inside the ring on 12/13. In fact, Alexander feels this is going to be an easy fight for him.

Devon Alexander: “Floyd Mayweather doesn’t like fighting Black fighters”

floyd62111By Danny Esch: In a previous article that I wrote here on BN24 “The Blueprint to beating Floyd Mayweather 2nd Opinion” I quoted a statement from Adrien Broner and in a few comments I was told that I was being “Racist”.

The quote in question was from Adrien Brown after his fight with Taylor post fight in the ring and the question was asked from Showtime’s Jim Grey: “Was he (Taylor) tougher than what you expected?” Adrien Broner’s response was “OH NO no disrespects to you Jim but he’s (Taylor) an African American I KNEW HE WAS GOING TO BE TOUGH”!

The whole Keith Thurman Mandatory issue is old news now and Thurman has a fight coming up against undefeated European Welterweight Champion Leonard Bandu instead of Devon Alexander.

De La Hoya points out that they both want to get a fight against superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr, and they’ll need to prove themselves if they want to get that fight.

Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander on December 13th – Breaking News!

khan88By Scott Gilfoid: #1 WBC, #2 WBA, #6 WBO welterweight contender Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) will be facing former two division world champion Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) on December 13th in a 12 round scheduled bout on Showtime at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Presumably this is the big fight that will get the 28-year-old Khan the mega-fight against WBA/WBC 147 pound champion Floyd Mayweather Jr that Khan has been talking about for years now.

The Khan-Alexander fight is a year late, because it arguably should have happened last December when Alexander and Khan were first talking about the fight.

Khan saying he wants Alexander or Guerrero for December fight

khan4444By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan says he’s interested in facing either Robert Guerrero or Devon Alexander for his next fight in December if the two are available. Khan mentioned wanting to fight one of them in the UK or Dubai.

That’s probably not going to happen, but it’s okay for Khan to wish. Khan says he still wants to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao in the future. Interestingly enough, he says the Mayweather fight didn’t happen this year because of Ramadan.

I’m not sure that Khan would have gotten the Mayweather fight even if there wasn’t Ramadan at the end of the year.

Khan to fight in December, possibly against Alexander or Guerrero

khan52By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) says he’ll be back in the ring in December against possibly Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (32-2-1, 18 KO’s), Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) or another opponent.

Khan says that his adviser Al Haymon is working on the date for the fight to be televised in the United States on Showtime in December. Khan says he wants a big name that will get him a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan also says he’s open to fighting Manny Pacquiao in the future now that Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions are willing to work with each other now.

Devon Alexander forced to battle hard to defeat Soto Karass

alexander4By Allan Fox: Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KO’s) was pleased with his tougher than expected 10 round unanimous decision win over Jesus Soto Karass (28-10-3, 18 KO’s) at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California. Alexander, 27, broke out of his old defensive style of fighting, and was willing to exchange with the hard hitting 31-year-old Soto Karass to show boxing fans that he’s come back from his loss to Shawn Porter in his previous fight.

To his credit, Alexander stood in the pocket for much of the fight and traded bombs with Soto Karass in earning a hard fought 10 round decision. Even Soto Karass was surprised that Alexander was willing to fight his fight, because the last thing he expected was for him to take shots in order to give them last night.

guerrero6678By Dan Ambrose: In what will sure to surprise a lot of boxing fans, Robert Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KO’s) will be by far the highest paid fighter on Saturday’s Showtime fight card from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Guerrero, 31, will be getting $1 million for his fight against little known contender Yoshihiro Kamegai (24-1-1, 21 KO’s) for their non-title fight.

According to Steve Kim, Guerrero is getting the $1 million because of his deal to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr last May included a minimum for his return fight.

Devon Alexander looking to impress against Soto Karass on Saturday

alexander5654By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander 25-2, 14 KO’s) will be trying to erase the image of his last defeat at the hands of Shawn Porter when he goes into the ring this Saturday night against Jesus Soto Karass (28-9-3, 18 KO’s) in a 12 round fight at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Alexander has always been a boxer that likes to work on the inside, jab a lot, and clinch frequently. But in his last fight, he went up against a guy with far superior inside fighting skills than himself in Porter, and he wasn’t able to clinch to shut Porter down like he’d done against guys like Marcos Maidana and Lucas Matthysse.

Welterweights on the comeback trail

guerrero211By Gav Duthie: On the 21st June, 2014 California hosts the comeback fights of ex world champions Devon Alexander 25-2 (14) and forgotten Welterweight Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero 31-2-1 (18). Although these two will share the same ring they won’t be fighting each other as they ease their way back to top level action on the undercard of Gary Russell Jnr 24-0 (14) v Vasyl Lomachenko 1-1 (1).

A fight between the two would have been of decent interest but its fair to say they both have stern challenges in front of them and can’t afford to be complacent. Devon takes on Jesus Soto Karass 28-9-3 (18) whilst The Ghost entertains  Yoshihiro Kamegai 24-1-1 (21). Devon is coming off a lost to Shawn Porter at the back end of last year whilst Guerrero has been out for 13 months since his loss to Floyd Mayweather. Its hard to say who has the bigger test here. Obviously statistically Kamegai looks better but Karass has been fighting top level fighters for quite some time now and surprised a few.
