Glass jaw rhapsody: Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander

khan6676By Gary J Cooper: I learned that Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander had been made when The Fight Guru (@TheFightGuru) tweeted it. I tweeted back, asking what he thought the odds would be. He didn’t give me a number, but said he thought Alexander would win. I tweeted back that I thought Khan would be about a (-250) favorite.

Khan is currently a (-240) favorite. Off the top of my head, I think the odds may have fluctuated from around (-230) to (-260) or so. I don’t remember for sure, but there hasn’t been much movement.

Devon Alexander: Was he chosen for Khan due to his lack of punching power?

Amir Khan and Devon AlexanderBy Scott Gilfoid: Out of all the potential fighters that could have been matched against Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) for his fight this Saturday night, Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs), a fighter known for not having much in the way of punching power was selected to face him in their fight on Showtime.

The big question is was Alexander, 27, specifically selected to face Khan due to his lack of power or was this just a case of Khan’s promoters at Golden Boy accidentally picking out a guy with a low knockout percentage.

Amir Khan should take example of Sadam Ali

khan1By Mohamed Horomtallah: Amir Khan is at a crossroads. His upcoming fight against Devon Alexander is a must win not only to be in the mix for a potential Floyd Mayweather Jr fight but also and perhaps mostly to prove that he could be an elite fighter at 147 pounds.

Khan knows that he must win and win big against Alexander. That could give him a boost but it could also prove to be a handicap, especially if the fight doesn’t play out as he initially planned.

Khan before a storm, pride before a fall

Amir Khan and Devon AlexanderBy Ian Goodwin: This Saturday night at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas, former two time WBA, WBA and IBF Light Welterweight British champion Amir Khan (29(19)-3-0) will get back in to the ring looking to impress in what a tough test against Devon Alexander (26(14)-2-0) for the WBC Silver Welterweight title (TBC) and to underline his claim for a potential super fight in 2015 against the current P4P king & Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Despite Bolton born “King” Khan’s professional record including victories over former world champions Marco Antonio Barrera, Zab Judah, Luis Collazo, Julio Diaz, Paulie Malignaggi & Marcos Maidana, many still hold a (legitimate) question mark over Khan’s heart & resilience after knock out defeats to arguably weaker opponents in the division.

Khan: I have to beat Alexander in style

khan4444By Scott Gilfoid: WBC Silver welterweight strap holder Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) realizes that he’s in a tough situation in his fight this Saturday night against former two division world champion Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Khan figures that for him to get an important fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr next year, he’s going to need to beat Alexander in an impressive fashion. In other words, Khan will either need to knock Alexander out or dominate him in a one-sided manner like he did against Luis Collazo last May.

Hatton thinks Khan will beat Alexander

khan555By Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion Ricky Hatton thinks that Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) will come out on top in his fight on December 13th against American Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Khan-Alexander fight will be the head-liner fight on a Showtime televised card.
