By Sean McDaniel: WBA featherweight champion Chris John (42-0-2, 22 KO’s) had to pull out of his June 27th rematch with Rocky Juarez due to an illness that John experienced while in training camp. Apparently, John, 29, collapsed while training for his bout with Juarez, which may be caused by a blood problem. John fought to a controversial 12 round draw with Juarez on February 28th in Houston, Texas, the home town of Juarez.

Instead, the fight is likely to be pushed back to August 1st.

By Jim Dower: The World Boxing Council has stripped unbeaten WBC light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (24-0, 11 KOs) for reportedly not facing his WBC number #1 ranked challenger Devon Alexander. However, Bradley, 25, sent in an e-mail earlier today to the WBC, telling them that he’s vacating the WBC title because the WBC was telling him to choose between keeping either the WBC or WBO light welterweight titles. It seemed like an easy choice for Bradley to make.
Alexander Smashes Rodriguez
By Dave Lahr: Undefeated light welterweight contender Devon Alexander (18-0, 11 KOs) defeated Jesus Rodriguez (19-4, 5 KOs) by a 9th round TKO on Friday night on the undercard of the Cory Spinks vs. Latimore bout at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. Alexander, 22, knocked Rodriguez down with a right-left combination at the end of the 8th round, and then at the start of the 9th round, Alexander finished Rodriguez off with a short left uppercut to the head.
