Jennings-Wilder fight not happening for now

Image: Jennings-Wilder fight not happening for nowBy Scott Gilfoid: Unfortunately the mouth watering fight between two of boxing’s best heavyweight contenders Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) and Bryant Jennings (15-0, 7 KO’s) isn’t going to happening now. Wilder, 26, wanted the fight and was up for it, but there seems to be some disagreements about why it’s not happening. Jennings’ promoters at Main Event sent a contract over to Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Eric Gomez, but it’s unclear what his thoughts are on the fight.

Main Events said on their twitter “Not a surprise. Deontay Wilder just passed on offer to fight Bryant Jennings in NBCSN main event on December 8th.”

Main Events said on their twitter “Deontay Wilder called out Bryant Jennings, so we’ve offered him a fight against Bryant in the main event on December 8th. Deontay Wilder, Oscar De La Hoya, it’s real. Made the offer to Golden Boy today. Waiting for their replay.”

Deontay Wilder targeting Bryant Jennings

Image: Deontay Wilder targeting Bryant JenningsBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) is still having problems finding top quality fighters that are interested in facing him. One fighter that the 6’7″ Wilder would love to get in the ring is unbeaten Bryant Jennings (15-0, 7 KO’s), who Wilder feels he could really take apart no problem if Jennings’ team would agree to let him fight the talented Wilder.

Wilder told Worldwideweeklyboxingpredictionsleague.co.uk “For that Jennings guy, I’m glad he takes me as a joke, but it’s hard to laugh once your jaw gets broke. I would love to see a contract come my way. I would take it in a split second and give him a reality check…That would be quick work for me.”

Tyson Fury still showing zero interest in fighting Deontay Wilder

Image: Tyson Fury still showing zero interest in fighting Deontay WilderBy Scott Gilfoid: I find it interesting to see heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) calling out David Haye on twitter, yet Fury won’t even step in the ring with Deontay Wilder. Fury feels that Haye should give him a fight so that he can prove to Haye that he’s the better fighter. Heck, why should Haye do that when Fury won’t even fight American talent Wilder or fellow Brit David Price?

Here’s what Wilder said to UKfighthype.com “He’s [Fury] a coward. He won’t fight anyone he knows he has a high chance of losing against.”

De La Hoya: Deontay Wilder is ready for a Top 10 opponent, he’ll fight on Showtime next

Image: De La Hoya: Deontay Wilder is ready for a Top 10 opponent, he'll fight on Showtime nextBy Scott Gilfoid: Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions is saying that his fighter unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) will be fighting on Showtime in his next fight and he feels he’s ready for a top 10 contender.

De La Hoya said on his twitter page “Deontay will now fight on Showtime next. He is ready for Top 10 [contender].”

I completely agree with De La Hoya. The 6’7″ Wilder is definitely ready for a top 10 heavyweight contender for his next fight after destroying Damon McCreary by a 2nd round TKO last Saturday night in a very impressive performance.

Deontay Wilder: Needs a step up in class to earn respect

Image: Deontay Wilder: Needs a step up in class to earn respectBy Ross Rushforth: There has been a lot of hype and talk of the unbeaten Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (25-0-0 25KO), and most of this has come from his Bronze medal he won at the Beijing Olympics, and the fact he has been tearing through the divisions C level fighters, with a string of KO’s.

As we saw on Saturday night Wilder took on the once “promising” super middleweight Damon McCreary, and as expected Deontay used his size and power to dismantle the seemingly out of shape and skill less McCreary. This was however McCreary’s 3rd fight in five years, and his first fight at heavyweight, so it was no surprise to us that this guy was blown out of the water by a young, talented and active fighter like Wilder.

Deontay Wilder: I’m looking for any heavyweight in the world

Image: Deontay Wilder: I'm looking for any heavyweight in the worldBy Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) says he had to give his opponent Damon McCreary (14-1, 10 KO’s) a little welcome message in Wilder’s three knockdown 2nd round knockout victory over McCreary last Saturday night at the The Hangar, in Costa Mesa, California. Wilder “The Bronze Bomber” looked more like gold than Bronze in destroying McCreary with a series of scorching right hands.

It was devastating to watch the Bronze Bomber work, because his right hand is clearly the best in boxing right now. There’s no one out there with the kind of power that Wilder has in that right hand of his.

A closer look at Deontay Wilder

Image: A closer look at Deontay Wilderby Dan Emicus: With another dominant performance over a formidable adversary last night, Deontay Wilder (25-0, 25 KO’s) has taken another step towards cementing a great legacy which will transcend the sport itself. Just kidding, I shall leave generous praise to a certain someone on this writing team who rates Wilder highly and is an avid believer in the prospect’s potential.

Wilder is worthy of attention, of that there is no doubt, but it is difficult to assess his progress when he isn’t being matched responsibly. There are those who insist that his performances to date warrant giving him the benefit of the doubt, but I for one prefer to give a prospect his due on the basis of merit, as opposed to speculation based purely on how impressive he looks against a vastly overmatched opponent. In his last outing against Damon McCreary, a one-time Super-Middleweight prospect 11 years ago, we learned that someone who once competed several weight divisions below heavyweight will struggle insurmountably against Wilder’s power.

Deontay Wilder up to 232 lbs for fight against McCreary on Saturday

Image: Deontay Wilder up to 232 lbs for fight against McCreary on Saturday(Photo courtesy of Deontay Wilder) By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (24-0, 24 KO’s) is packing on the pounds to fill out his physique so that he’s around the same weight as the super heavyweights in the division like the Klitschko brothers.

Wilder said on his twitter “In Cali eat’n getting ready4sat night&in the process of it I’m get’n fat I’m a whopping 232Ib now 245 here I come baby.”

Four years ago when the tall 6’7″ 2008 Olympic Bronze medalist for U.S turned pro he weighed only 208 lbs and looked rail thin. Wilder has since steadily packed on the muscle and he’s now up to 232 lbs for his fight tomorrow might against unbeaten Damon McCreary (14-0, 10 KO’s) at The Hangar, Costa Mesa, California, United States.

That’s an excellent weight for Wilder, and he probably only needs to put on another 12 rounds to get to around 244 lbs, so that he can weigh the same as IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.
