Deontay Wilder, Amir Mansour & Malik Scott a combined 79-0

wilder2By Steven Ocallaghan: Malik Scott, Deontay Wilder and Amir Mansour, all undefeated American heavyweights who have between them amassed a perfect 79-0 record between them. Amazingly not one of these guys has fought anybody of any decent ranking yet.

Even more amazing is the fact that Deontay Wilder has managed to get a WBA 9 ranking which I find incredible considering Wilder’s last fight, the fight that got him the ranking was against the completely out of shape Mat Greer.

Amir Mansour at 40 has boxed just 48 rounds in a 17 fight career, so we can effectively rule him out.

Step up or step aside!

floyd43By Mike Mason: When are these American fighters finally going to step up? With the P4P No1 Floyd Mayweather recently stating he may be facing Devon Alexander on May 4th, whether this is true or just its just to get Robert Guerrero to take less money, the fact still remains the fight we all wanted/want to see Floyd in was Manny Pacquiao. For whatever reason this fight has never materialized, so instead of choosing another big fight like the talented Sergio Martinez, the fans, the paying public who pay these guys wages are supposed to put up with Mayweather taking fights with quitters like Devon Alexander and Victor Ortiz? If Floyd wants to create a legacy he is going to have to take tougher fights than these.

Its not just Mayweather its just how things are in America, take for example the chicken legged hype machine Deontay Wilder, this guy has 27 wins 27 ko’s 0 losses and he still hasn’t fought anybody in the top 100, its plain to see to anybody with a brain, this guy is going to get flattened when he steps in the ring with any of the top European guys.

Fury: The TV networks turned down Deontay Wilder & Bryant Jennings as possible opponents

fury544By Scott Gilfoid: #4 WBC heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s) is saying one of the television networks in the United States turned down both Deontay Wilder and Bryant Jennings as an opponent for his April 20th fight in New York. Fury says they only wanted 36-year-old Tomasz Adamek or 36-year-old Steve Cunningham (25-5, 12 KO’s). Fury and #12 IBF Cunningham will be fighting on April 20th.

Fury said BaylorIC TV “It’s [Cunningham] to show the American people I’m the real deal and just a joke.”

Fury then went on a long rant, constantly changing subjects, blabbing about how he’s not being given a shot against the Klitschko brothers, and how he still won’t get a shot even if he beats Cunningham.

Wilder ranked number #9 WBA: Who will he face next?

wilder231By Tony Crooks: When you get a ranking in the top ten, there are no more excuses. You simply have to fight someone above you in the rankings to move up. So who is Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) going to fight next? So which one of the 8, 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 fighters is he going to fight?

You can’t go backwards if you want to move forwards. Wilder is not ranked highly with any the other boxing bodies, where does he go from here? I can’t see how he can get out of this situation, if he fights another 3rd or 4th tier fighter he will be the subject of hilarious laughter.

If he steps up, then, the true test of his mantle will be either confirmed or denied. There is nowhere to hide anymore! As far as I am concerned, Wilder has proved only one thing, he can knock out fighters that do not have the boxing skills to defend themselves or are not in good enough shape to take his punches.

Wilder to fight in March or April, Chisora not in the picture

wilder2By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) will be back in the ring in March or April and looking for his 28th consecutive knockout in a fight that could be televised by Showtime in the United States.

Wilder still plans on fighting for a world title in 2013, and his new #9 WBA ranking puts him in line for a title shot against either Wladimir Klitschko or Alexander Povetkin this year.

As for Wilder facing Britain’s Dereck Chisora, Wilder says he doesn’t have any plans on facing him next. I mean, it wouldn’t be fair to Chisora to have him thrown in the ring with a super heavyweight like the 6’7” Wilder.

Deontay: Can he make it?

wilder5By Steven Ocallaghan: After a chat with American heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) on twitter, I’m still perplexed to what he expects of the public. I questioned his choice of opponents and he answered by saying that I know nothing about boxing.

All my life I have watched, read and studied the noble art, even have a claim to fame in sparring to knocking down a world champion. I replied that I have forgotten more than he knows. His reply was that I was a hater, by which I’m not. Anybody ho can KO 27 out of 27 has to be listened to, but because I disagree, I know nothing.

How talented is Deontay Wilder?

wilder322By Tony Crooks: Deontay Wilder has a very impressive record with 27 KO’s and no losses; on paper this appears to be in actual fact imposing, so much so that every heavyweight in the world should be tormented by the nightmares that most early Tyson opponents experienced. Why is not the case?

Lets us make a comparable with Lennox Lewis at the exactly the same time in their respective careers. Lewis fought Donavon Razor Ruddock in his twenty second fight and won by KO in the second round. Wilder fought Jesse Oltmanns, Jesse who? Lewis then fought Tony Tucker, Wilder fights Owen Beck, Owen who? Both Ruddock and Tucker were dangerous fights for Lewis at that time in his career, Oltmanns and Beck sounds more like a department store than they do boxers.

Deontay Wilder now ranked #9 WBA in World Rankings!

BBl04Q_CEAAoOsaBy Scott Gilfoid: The unbeaten heavyweight Deontay Wilder (27-0, 27 KO’s) has finally cracked the top tier world rankings and he’s now ranked #9 by the World Boxing Association (WBA) in their new rankings. Before this, Wilder wasn’t ranked in the top 15 by any of the sanctioning bodies due to him still being a prospect, but now there are no more excuses from the top tier heavyweights why they can’t fight the 6’7” Wilder.

Upon learning the news of his ranking by the WBA, Wilder said on his twitter “On the building!”

Wilder’s new ranking means a lot of things. He’s now ranked high enough so that if one of the heavyweight champions like Wladimir Klitschko, Vitali Klitschko or Alexander Povetkin decide they want to want to defend their titles against him, they can do it without anyone being able to make a fuss out of due to Wilder’s top 10 ranking by the WBA.

Wilder needs to stop calling out Fury and slowly work his way up the rankings like everyone else

wilder52By Thomas Cowan: Tyson Fury has come in for a lot of criticism recently for the class of the opponents he’s been fighting. This is very fair criticism. The opponents that Fury has faced aren’t good enough for him to be talking about fighting one of the Klitschko brothers. It has been suggested that Fury should test himself by facing American prospect Deontay Wilder who called Fury out last year. This idea is hypocrisy in it’s most hilarious state.

If Fury wanted to improve the quality of fighters he’s been facing, why would he want to fight a guy who is wasting his career knocking out guys ranked outside the top 200. The only fighter Wilder has faced who’s managed to work their way to a world title shot is Jamaican Owen Beck. Beck fought Russian giant Nikolay Valuev in 2006 and was brutally knocked out in the 3rd round. Beck’s career in freefall since then and was coming off 7 straight losses when he faced Wilder, including a loss to debutant Sergey Rozhnov. I’m not even going to bother talking about Wilder’s other opponents because it would just be a waste of everyone’s time.

Deontay Wilder continues to talk and talk and talk

By Dominic Sauboorah: Wow, this is starting to annoy me. After unbeaten heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder (27-0. 27 KO’s) was criticized for fighting journeyman Matt Greer last Saturday night in Mexico, he doesn’t end up being the bigger man and admitting that he hasn’t been fighting good enough opposition and that he needs stepping up.
