Could 2015-2016 be the best years the heavyweight division has seen in two decades?

wilder5By James P Sexton: Saturday 17th January 2015. Bermane Stiverne vs Deontay Wilder. For many young fight fans this will be the first time they see a real heavyweight champion not named Klitschko (excluding WBA ‘regular’ champs and other nonsense.)

The belt vacated by Wladimir Klitschko’s brother Vitali was won by Stiverne during a rematch with tough slugger and former title challenger Chris Arreola. Stiverne knocked Arreola down twice on route to a 6th round TKO.

Deontay Wilder’s got the right hand equalizer for Stiverne, says Malik Scott

wilder555555By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Malik Scott is picking #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) to KO WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) in their fight in two weeks from now on January 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Scott, who was knocked out in the 1st round by Deontay earlier last year in April, thinks that Stiverne has problems with taller fighters that use their height to fight tall and not get down to their shorter opponent’s level.

Malik especially likes Deontay’s right hand power, as he believes that’s going to be a potent weapon for him against the 6’2” Stiverne when the two start firing shots. Deontay has got one of the best right hands in the division, and it’s going to be a problem for Stiverne if he gets hit with too many of those big right hands.

“I got the fight 70-30 for Wilder,” Scott said via esnewsreporting.com. “Reason I say that is because I know Stiverne and his trainer and they have been working but Stiverne doesn’t deal with rangy guys good enough for me to think he’s going to beat Deontay; someone who’s 6’7” who fights tall. He’s got the right hand equalizer. Unfortunately that’s going to be too much for Stiverne.”

Deontay Wilder excited about Stiverne fight

deontay7809By Scott Gilfoid: With a little over two weeks to go before his big fight against WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs), challenger Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) is very excited about the match and he can’t wait to get in the ring to test his power against the 6’2” Stiverne at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Some boxing fans feel that Stiverne, 36, will be able to take Deontay’s best right hand power shots without dropping for the 10 count. We won’t find out until Deontay and Stiverne get in the ring on January 17th on Showtime Championship Boxing.

One thing is for sure if Deontay fights on the outside the way that the 6’6” Ray Austin did in his fight against Stiverne in 2011, then it’s going to be awfully hard for Stiverne to be able to compete in this fight. Austin out-boxed Stiverne for 9 rounds until getting hit with a big shot while the two of them were in close.

If Deontay Wilder beats Stiverne, Wladimir Klitschko a possibility in near future

deontay50395By Scott Gilfoid: Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) could set himself up for a nice payday fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 or 2016 if Deontay beats WBC heavyweight title holder Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) in their highly anticipated fight on Showtime on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Deontay, with his long reach, fast hands and huge right hand power, matches up really well with the 6’6” Klitschko, and he could very well take the Ukrainian fighter out. It wouldn’t matter that Deontay doesn’t have the same kind of experience or two-fisted power that Wladimir has.

Deontay Wilder will take advantage of Stiverne if he doesn’t keep his left hand up

stiverne22By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) potentially is going to have a lot of problems next month in his title defense against the much taller knockout artist Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

While the 36-year-old Stiverne is a good counter puncher with excellent power, he has a nasty habit of keeping his left arm down by his side the way that the lightning fast Roy Jones Jr did in his prime.

Deontay Wilder wants to get credit after he beats Bermane Stiverne on 1/17

deontay32 - Copy (2)By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten KO artist Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) has heard from his many detractors after his many knockouts wins that he’s been facing soft opposition. Deontay says he doesn’t want to hear those same critics after he beats WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1, 21 KOs) in their fight next month on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Deontay wants to receive a pat on the back if/when he beats the hard-hitting Stiverne and takes his WBC strap next month. This is a big step up for Deontay, as Stiverne is a very good fighter and one of the best in the heavyweight division.

Deontay Wilder: I’m giving America it’s next heavyweight world champion

deontay111By Scott Gilfoid: The huge 6’7” Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) is convinced that he’ll be adding another scalp to his resume next month when he faces WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) for his WBC strap on January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This is a big, big fight for Deontay and for many Americans, because he has the chance of capturing the WBC heavyweight title and bringing it back to the U.S. It would be the first American world champion since Shannon Briggs accomplished that fete back in 2006.

Fury: I want Stiverne-Wilder fight if I don’t get Klitschko

fury5667By Scott Gilfoid: In what has to be seen as a bluff on his part, Tyson Fury (23-0, 17 KOs) says he’ll be keeping his eye on the January 17th fight between WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) and unbeaten American Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) because he’d be interested in fighting the winner of the fight if he can’t get a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury, 26, is the WBO mandatory challenger to Wladimir’s WBO strap after Fury beat Derek Chisora in a rematch last November. That means that there’s no chance that Wladimir can’t get around fighting Fury other than vacating his WBO title, which he obviously isn’t going to do.
