Deontay Wilder vs. Johann Duhaupas in the works for September 26th in Birmingham, Alabama

wilder5555(Photo credit: Sumio Yamada) By Scott Gilfoid: Negotiations are reportedly underway or a fight between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) and #12 WBC Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) for a fight on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC in Birmingham, Alabama. The deal is expected to be finalized and the fight to be announced within the next few days.

The 6’5” Duhaupas, 34, is a talented heavyweight who comes from France, and who has excellent boxing skills. Duhaupas has a good jab, and is very good at moving around the ring. Duhaupas will give Wilder some good rounds to get him ready for his title defense in early 2016 against his No.1 WBC challenger Alexander Povetkin.

Marco Huck interested in Wilder and Klitschko when he moves up to heavyweight

Image: Marco Huck interested in Wilder and Klitschko when he moves up to heavyweightPhoto credit: Ed Diller/DiBella Entertainment) By Scott Gilfoid: WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (38-2-1, 26 KOs) has his sights set on some big game when he eventually moves up to the heavyweight division in the near future. Huck says he wants to fight WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) and IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs).

Huck, 30, sees those two as guys he’d be very interested in fighting. Huck also has unfinished business with former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, who beat him by a narrow 12 round majority decision in 2012. However, the 6’2” Povetkin is a short heavyweight, and the things that Huck was able to get away with in fighting Povetkin at close range aren’t things that he’d be able to do against the much taller Wilder and Klitschko.

Johann Duhaupas emerges as another possible Deontay Wilder opponent

wilderBy Scott Gilfoid: #12 WBC Johann Duhaupas (32-2, 20 KOs) is the latest of the possible opponents for WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) to fight in his next bout on September 26th on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC.

Andrzej Wawrzyk is also still under consideration for Wilder’s next fight. What both of these talented heavyweights have in common are good size, mobility and talent. Duhaupas is 6’5”, has a great chin, and can move around the ring.

Deontay Wilder vs. Andrzej Wawrzyk possible for September 26th

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9831By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) could be facing the capable 6’5” Andrzej Wawrzyk (30-1, 16 KOs) in his next voluntary title defense on September 26th on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC, according to Dan Rafael. Wawrzyk, 27, is an experienced heavyweight who has previously fought the likes of Alexander Povetkin, Fran Botha and Denis Bakhtov.

Trainer Peter Fury says that Wilder’s management reached out to him for a fight between Wilder and unbeaten Hughie Fury (16-0, 8 KOs). After initially saying that the fight would be in just 4 weeks, Peter said that he would only agree to the fight if they were given a full 8 weeks of training.

Hughie Fury will take Deontay Wilder fight if he gets 8 weeks of training, says Peter F

fury433By Scott Gilfoid: Trainer Peter Fury says that his fighter Hughie Fury (16-0, 8 KOs) will agree to face unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0 33 KOs) if he’ll let young Hughie get a full 8 weeks of training. Apparently, the 7 ½ weeks that Hughie would be getting if he agreed to the fight isn’t good enough.

It would be short three days of 8 weeks. Peter wants Hughie to have the full 8 weeks, not just 7 ½ weeks. Of course, it doesn’t take a blind man to see that Peter and Hughie just don’t fancy the job of going out there and trying to beat what arguably is the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division right now in the 6’7” Wilder.

Hughie Fury offered Deontay Wilder title shot, says Peter F

hughie5By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury (16-0, 8 Kos), the cousin of undefeated #1 WBO Tyson Fury, has been offered a world title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs), says his father/trainer Peter Fury. He says Hughie was offered the fight with 4 weeks’ notice. Peter doesn’t say whether or not they’ll take the fight, but given that he didn’t say anything about that it tells you that he’s not going to agree to let the 20-year-old Hughie take the fight.

Hughie was the one who Peter was talking about potentially breaking Mike Tyson’s record by becoming the youngest heavyweight world champion at age 20. Well, here’s young Hughie’s chance at breaking the record, but it doesn’t look like Peter is going to accept the fight, does it? Peter hasn’t said anything about whether he’ll agree to let Hughie take the fight with Deontay, but I don’t think he’s going to.

Deontay Wilder: Wladimir Klitschko will need to come to America in 2016 for WBC belt

1-DEONTAY WILDER VICTORY-06132015-5328By Scott Gilfoid: If IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko wants to try and capture the final piece of the puzzle in looking to grab Deontay Wilder’s WBC heavyweight title, then he’s going to need to come to America in 2016 to try and win the belt, because the talented 6’7” Deontay doesn’t plan on going outside of the U.S to defend his WBC title if that’s what the 39-year-old Wladimir has in mind.

Right now, Wladimir will need to get past unbeaten No.1 WBO Tyson Fury in their fight on October 24th for him to have a chance of winning Deontay’s WBC title. We don’t even know if Wladimir will be able to get past the light hitting Fury in order to face the hard hitting Wilder next year.

Deontay Wilder’s September 26th fight to be televised by NBCSN

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-0323By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder’s next fight on September 26th will likely have a huge audience watching him show off his stuff, as it’s going to be televised on free TV on Premier Boxing Champions on NBCSN against a still to be determined opponent and yet to be determined venue in the United States. Chris Arreola is one of the names that is reportedly in the running for the fight.

Arreola didn’t look so great in his last fight against Fred Kassi though. It’s a voluntary defense for Wilder, so he can fight pretty much anybody. Arreola would be good, and so would someone like Manuel Charr. Lucas Browne has been talking a lot of trash about wanting to fight Wilder, but he’s likely not up for the fight.

Arreola facing Kassi for possible Deontay Wilder fight

Chris Arreola(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Chris Arreola (36-4, 31 KOs) has a potential fight against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) up for grabs if Arreola can beat his opponent for Saturday, Fred Kassi (18-3, 10 KOs) in their 10 round bout on Premier Boxing Champions on CBS at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

It’s been a year since the last time Arreola failed in a world title shot chance in losing to Bermane Stiverne by a 6th round knockout. Arreola, 34, has failed twice in world title bids, and he believes if he fails to win a world title against Wilder, he’ll give up on the idea and retire.

Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder, the future heavyweight of the world?

1-DEONTAY WILDER-MEDIA WORKOUT-9831By Erhan Bora: In a hypothetical match up, the question posed here is who will reign supreme for years to come in the heavyweight division? Without discrediting the attributes of Tyson Fury, Vyacheslav Glazkov, Joseph Parker and the other contenders who may wish to crash the party, Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder have to be the top two prospects within the weight category.

What the two have in common are that they are many doubters over their real talent due to the weak opponents that they have faced. Deontay has faced a real strong former champ in the shape of Bermane Stiverne, and did a real number on him, but apart from that neither fighter has faced a strong opponent.
