Deontay Wilder has Christmas greetings for Artur Szpilka

wilder4555By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronzebomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) put together a nice little Christmas greetings today to his next opponent Artur “Szpila The Pin” Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) ahead of their fight next month on January 16th on Showtime Championship Boxing from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Wilder, 6’7”, wanted to wish Szpilka a nice little “seasons beating” for their fight. Out of the kindness of Wilder’s heart, he offered up a kind greeting to the 26-year-old Szpilka.

Szpilka is going to need a ton of luck for this fight because he’s facing what many boxing fans see as the best heavyweight on the planet now. Wladimir Klitschko got old, got beat, and is now likely to be sent into retirement by the light hitting Tyson Fury in early 2016.

With Only Deontay, Fury, and Ruslan Chagaev holding world titles at heavyweight, Deontay figures to be the best of the three by a considerable margin in the minds of many fans. Interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) doesn’t count in the equation because he’s still not a full champion, and he still hasn’t beaten anyone talented. I’m sorry, but I don’t count Bryant Jennings as being a talented fighter.

Glazkov vs. Martin added to Wilder-Szpilka fight card on 1/16

wilder555By Scott Gilfoid: As expected, the heavyweight clash between #1 IBF Vyacheslav Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) and #4 IBF Charles Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs) has been added to the heavyweight card featuring the talented WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) vs. Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) on Showtime Championship Boxing on January 16th next month from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

By adding a second heavyweight title fight to the existing Wilder-Szpilka card, it’s obviously going to make for a thrilling fight card to say the least. While I’m not too enamored with the Glazkov vs. Martin fight, I don’t think it taint the Wilder fight card any by the fight turning out to be a buzz-kill for the many boxing fans that will be tuning in to see the fight live on Showtime and watching it at ringside in the Barclays Center.

Luis Ortiz would KO Deontay Wilder, says Lederman

Image: Luis Ortiz would KO Deontay Wilder, says Lederman(Photo Credit: Alex Menendez – HoganPhotos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Scott Gilfoid: Long time HBO unofficial ringside scorer Harold Lederman believes that the 6’4” interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) would knockout the talented 6’7” WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) if the two of these giant heavyweights wind up facing each other in the near future.

Lederman is high on both of them, but he thinks the southpaw Ortiz would have the upper on the younger 30-year-old Wilder if the two of them fought right now.

Fury/Wilder/Canelo/Golovkin

golovkin5554(Photo credit: World Boxing Council) By Robert “Big Moe” Elmore: After one or two fights, one pay per view event, the media and boxing fans are ready to crown certain fighters “the next big thing”. In that same breathe, the same media that built a fighter up are the same ones that can tear a fighter down.

Some boxing fans have that microwave mentality. You know; they want the food to be done instantly. Other fans have the oven mentality. He is slow cooked, all the parts we can’t see are marinated slowly (defense, footwork, combos etc), and is baked at just the right temperature. And when the opportunity comes, the fighter is taking out the oven and is ready for the next step.

Luis Ortiz targets Wilder and Fury

Image: Luis Ortiz targets Wilder and Fury(Photo Credit: Alex Menendez – HoganPhotos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Scott Gilfoid: Interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (24-0, 21 KOs) wants only the best for his career now that he’s taken care of Bryant Jennings (19-2, 10 KOs) with his seventh round knockout win last night on HBO. Ortiz, 36, said after the fight that he wants to fight WBC champion Deontay Wilder or IBO/WBA/WBO champion Tyson Fury next. Ultimately, Ortiz will fight whoever his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions wants him to, but his preference is to fight Fury or Wilder next.

Ortiz impressed a lot of boxing fans last night with his multi-faceted display of talent in beating the 31-year-old Jennings in front of a large crowd at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The card was stacked from top to bottom, but unfortunately, HBO Boxing After Dark only showed the Ortiz-Jennings and Nicholas Walters vs. Jason Rosa fight.

Luis Ortiz wants Wilder and Klitschko fights

Image: Luis Ortiz wants Wilder and Klitschko fights(Photo Credit: Alex Menendez-HoganPhotos/Golden Boy Promotions) By Scott Gilfoid: If interim WBA heavyweight champion Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz (23-0, 20 KOs) can get past #6 WBA Bryant Jennings (19-1, 10 KOs) this Saturday, then he says he’d be interested in proving himself as the best against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko, if the Ukrainian fighter continues his career.

Ortiz, 36, says he will fight whoever his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions tell him to fight. But first things first, Ortiz must get past his test tomorrow night against the 31-year-old Jennings in their fight on HBO Boxing After Dark at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York.

Deontay: I’m going to whip Fury for Lennox Lewis

wilder(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) says he doesn’t like the comments that IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) recently made about the 50-year-old Lennox Lewis, and he plans on giving Fury a real hiding when he eventually gets him inside the ring with him.

Just when that will happen is anyone’s guess. Heck, by the time Deontay faces Fury in the future, Fury will unlikely still be a world champion. Someone is going to get to Fury soon and take his scalp and his world titles at the same time.

Wilder: I’m KO’ing Szpilka and sending a message

wilder100By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) plans on scoring a knockout over challenger Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) next month and sending a message to the heavyweight division in the process when he faces Szpilka on January 16th on Showtime from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The talented Deontay feels he’s the best heavyweight in the division right now bar none, and his predicted knockout victory over the 26-year-old Szpilka will put the world on notice that he’s not to be messed with.

Szpilka is just one of many young lions that are vying for Wilder’s throne. You also have heavyweights like Anthony Joshua, who is being carefully guided with motherly care by his promoter Eddie Hearn to get his eventual shot at Deontay at some point.

Deontay Wilder: You can’t buy greatness in a store

wilder100By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is looking for greatness with his pro career. He’s already won one world title after beating Bermane Stiverne earlier this year to rip his WBC belt away from him in a magnificent performance. Wilder next will be defending his WBC title a month from now against #8 WBC Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) on January 16 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After Deontay takes care of business against Szpilka, he’ll be looking to accomplish big things in 2016 by beating the aging 36-year-old #1 WBC Alexander Povetkin, who just happens to be Wilder’s mandatory challenger, and then he wants to go after IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s scalp to add to his collection.

A victory for Wilder over Fury will bring him one-step closer to greatness. I am not saying that beating Fury would make Wilder great, because I see Fury as a feather-fisted opportunist, who was only able to beat Wladimir Klitschko because he got old and was finally beatable.

Szpilka says he’s going to kick Deontay Wilder’s backside

1-LR_ARTUR SZPILKA-SHOBOX-12112015-0086By Scott Gilfoid: #8 WBC challenger Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) was in a fine trash talking mood last night when being interviewed by Showtime broadcaster Steve Farhood to discuss his important fight against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) on January 16th on Showtime Championship Boxing from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Szpilka says he is going to whip Wilder’s backside when he gets him in the ring and take his highly valued WBC title, which many fans see as the most important of the four major heavyweight title straps.
