Wilder: Klitschko can’t be counted out in Joshua fight

Image: Wilder: Klitschko can’t be counted out in Joshua fight

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is still giving Wladimir Klitschko a shot at beating IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in their fight on April 29 despite his feelings that father time is beating on the door of the aging 40-year-old Ukrainian heavyweight.

Deontay openly admits that he wants the younger lion Joshua to win the fight thought, considering that a fight between the two will make a heck of a lot of green stuff. Wilder likes the idea him matching a fighter like Joshua, who will come to slug with him, because he wants to trade shots with him and land some right hands on his chin to see if he remains standing.

Dillian Whyte vs. Bermane Stiverne possible, winner faces Wilder

Image: Dillian Whyte vs. Bermane Stiverne possible, winner faces Wilder

By Scott Gilfoid: With Alexander Povetkin looking like he’s out of the running for a title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, #2 WBC Bermane Stiverne (25-2-1, 21 KOs) could wind up facing #10 WBC Dillian Whyte (20-1, 15 KOs) in a WBC heavyweight eliminator match. This is what the 28-year-old Whyte is saying on his social media site.

If Whyte is going to be the one fighting in an eliminator, he would be leapfrogging over a lot of higher ranked contenders in the World Boxing Council’s rankings in order for him to get that title shot. Would be that fair? Whoever said boxing was fair? The sport isn’t conducted like normal sports where you have teams that fight their way to the top by beating good teams.

Deontay Wilder vs. Andrzej Wawrzyk on Feb.25

Ny Allan Fox: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is said to be fighting #12 WBC contender Andrzej Wawrzyk on February 25 in his hometown in the Legacy Arena Birmingham, Alabama. It’s not official yet, but that’s the fight the 31-year-old Wilder is reportedly fighting next. This is a good fight for Wilder.

It’ll give him some good practice to get ready for a possible unification fight against the 6’6” IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua or the 6’6” Wladimir Klitschko in 2017.

Joshua will likely face Pulev after Klitschko

Image: Joshua will likely face Pulev after Klitschko

By Jeff Aranow: If everything goes right for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (18-0, 18 KOs) in his fight against Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) on April 29, he could be facing his IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev (24-1, 13 KOs) in the summer time in the UK. Pulev recently beat Samuel Peter and Dereck Chisora to put himself in the lead position for a title shot against Joshua.

Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Joshua, thinks it’s possible for the 27-year-old Joshua to fight Wladimir, Pulev and WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder all in 2017. That would be a big year for Joshua if he can take all of those fights. For all intents and purposes, Joshua would clear out the heavyweight division if he can beat those three heavyweights next year.

The Heavyweight Division: Is it really booming?

Image: The Heavyweight Division: Is it really booming?

By Rameez Haider: After my previous article on Anthony Joshua, I have had several tweets debating whether David Haye would beat him? Is Wladimir Klitschko a step up for Joshua? Do these fights matter when the number one heavyweight Tyson Fury is inactive? How will Joshua hold up against Deontay Wilder?

The questions got me thinking about the heavyweight division and where we currently sit. I think it is fair to say that everyone will agree on the current top heavyweights in the division:

Parker could face Hughie Fury or Deontay Wilder next

Image: Parker could face Hughie Fury or Deontay Wilder next

By Scott Gilfoid: The promoters for new WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (22-0, 18 KOs) are talking about his first fight as the WBO champion either a unification match against WBC champ Deontay Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) or a mandatory defense against unbeaten #5 WBO Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs).

Even if the World Boxing Organization orders the 24-year-old Parker to defend against Hughie next, he could still potentially face the talented 6’7” Deontay in a unification match due to unification fights overriding mandatory defenses. Wilder vs. Parker would be a great fight. I’d be the first in line to see that one.

Deontay Wilder recovers from right arm injuries

deontay10

By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) is finally fully recovered from his right arm injuries he suffered in his last fight against Chris Arreola last July in a title defense in Birmingham, Alabama, Wilders, 31, suffered a fractured right hand and a torn right biceps injury in the 4th round of that right, which he won by an 8th round knockout.

Wilder had surgery on both injuries, and he’s been healing and doing rehab during the last five months. It’s taken this long for the talented 6’7” Wilder to come fully back from the injuries, but he’s finally ready to go. The injury has arguably helped Wilder’s career, because it’s given him more time to work on developing his left hand to make it more of a weapon for him.

Jarrell Miller and Hughie Fury possible for Wilder in 2017

wilder8

By Eric Baldwin: If the cards play out right, the fans could be seeing a big fight in late 2017 between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and IBF champion Anthony Joshua on Showtime. Joshua will need to win his fight against former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in early 2017.

Wilder, 30, will be potentially taking two tune-up fights to get ready to fight the winner of the Joshua-Klitschko fight for later in the year. Wilder will need a couple of tune-ups, because he’s coming off of a bad right arm and hand injury from his fight against Chris Arreola last April.

Deontay Wilder vs. Hughie Fury possible for March

hughie933

By Scott Gilfoid: After turning down a world title shot against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder (37-0, 36 KOs) in 2015, unbeaten #5 WBO, #13 IBF Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) could now be fighting him in March of 2017. Hughie and Wilder’s team are reportedly in talks for a fight in March.

This is interesting news, because I figured that Hughie would wait two or three more years before he fights for a world title. If he’s serious about wanting to get inside the ring with Deontay now, then he must really see some flaw in his arsenal that he thinks he can take advantage of. in fact, Hughie is yapping about seeing flaws in Deontay’s game that he believes he can exploit.
