Image: Lebedev vs. Silgado on December 17thBy Allan Fox: WBA World cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18 KO’s) will be making his first defense of his title on December 17th against #8 WBC Sadlander Sigado (23-0, 18 KO’s) at Crocus City Hall, in Myakino, Russia. Lebedev, 33, picked up the World Boxing Association cruiserweight title after the previous champion Guillermo Jones failed to fight Lebedev earlier this year.

The southpaw Lebedev has a lot of power and holds wins over a faded Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney. Lebedev has also beaten Alexander Alekseev and Enzo Maccarinelli by knockouts. However, he hasn’t done a lot since losing to WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck by a controversial 12 round split decision in December of 2010. Lebedev wasn’t given a rematch with Huck, and he’s been content with beating Jones Jr, Toney and Shawn Cox.
