barker4523By Nate Anderson: Unbeaten Commonwealth middleweight champion Darren Barker (21-0, 14 KOs) stopped Danny Butler in the 7th round tonight to capture the vacant BBBofC British middleweight title at the Brentwood Center in Brentwood. Barker, 27, picked apart Butler with jabs and right hands throughout the one-sided fight. In the 7th round, referee Richie Davis had seen enough of the one way action and decided to step in and halt the slaughter.

Barker-Elcock off Danny Butler steps in

elcock46211By Peter Wells: Tonight would have been big night for British fighting fans, as Darren Barker was to take on former British Middleweight champion Wayne Elcock for his own Commonwealth title and the British title which was vacated by Wayne’s last conqueror Matthew Macklin. But unfortunately Wayne Elcock was in bad shape as he had to rapidly lose weight, so he was pulled out. Luckily for Barker he is to take on Danny Butler, who has only fought two weeks ago where he has beaten by Darren McDermott.

huck11122By William Mackay: Unbeaten Darren Barker (20-0, 13 KO’s) will be facing a replacement Danny Butler (18-2, 3 KO’s) on Saturday night for the vacant BBBofC British middleweight title at the Brentwood Centre, Brentwood, Essex. Barker, 27, was supposed to be facing Wayne Elcock, but he pulled out of the fight complaining of a stomach virus. Fortunately, the light hitting Butler was available to step in and take the fight with Barker. Butler, 22, recently was defeated by Darren McDermott in a 10 round decision on November 13th in a failed attempt to win the BBBofC English middleweight title.

By Nate Anderson: In an article Setanta Sports, new Commonwealth heavyweight champion Sam Sexton (12-1, 5 KOs) wants a fight with undefeated heavyweight Derek Chisora (9-0, 5 KOs), who prefers a 6th round TKO over Sexton last year. Sexton defeated the 38-year-old former Commonwealth champion Rogan last Friday night in a fight that failed to prove who the better man was after Sexton got badly hurt by Rogan in the 8th and got a break when the ringside doctor stopped the bout later in the round.

Fury Blasts Haye; Barker Challenges Duddy; Barney-McIntosh – News

fury3Up and coming British boxer Tyson Fury reckons he’ll be a bigger success at heavyweight than fellow Brit David Haye. Fury faces Russia’s Daniel Peret at the Norwich Showground, Norwich, in only his third professional fight this Saturday.
