Is Taylor Really Avoiding Froch?

taylor563468By Simon Hirst: Carl Froch recently hit out at Jermain Taylor for ducking a fight with him. It came after another boxing website reported that Froch was out until June with injured ribs. Froch has venomously dismissed these reports insisting he is willing to fight anyone and anywhere. It was said Taylor’s camp were looking elsewhere because of this, but surely a simple phone call to Froch’s promoter would prove that Froch is fit and raring to go.

2009 – A good year for British Boxing

froch45By Mark Boyles – The new year brings some good news for British boxing fans.. Firstly there’s all the talk of Hatton and Pacquaio. As a fight, it should be one to watch, with arguably two of the best pound for pound fighters in the world. Pacquaio hasn’t been hit with anything close to the power that Hatton has, and hasn’t been tested at this weight. I’d not call the Oscar De La Hoya fight a test personally, given the way that fight played out, and the way Oscar went in to it. It should be an amazing fight. Given the pay per view figures for De La Hoya and Pac-man, I am left wondering if it will happen in Vegas though, as surely it would make more sense to hold the fight in London in front of 80,000 fans and many more on UK TV than it would to offer it up to a disinterested American public on Pay Per View. I’d say it’s a fight that could go either way too, which makes it a much more interesting affair than Hatton-Mayweather II would be.

I don’t believe in having easy fights.” Missing from those names, however, is Joe Calzaghe, who Froch has been pursuing without success for some time.

Options For Taylor In 2009

taylor454By Jim Dower: After two consecutive losses to Kelly Pavlik, former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (28-2-1, 17 KOs) appears to be once again fighting well having moved up to the super middleweight division where he recently defeated Jeff Lacy by a 12-round unanimous decision in a WBC Super Middleweight Title Eliminator in November. At the new 168 pound weight class, Taylor looked good, not showing signs of endurance problems that have affected him in recent years in fights against Cory Spinks, Kelly Pavlik and Kassim Ouma.
