Breidis Prescott
Khan: If Prescott beats McCloskey our rematch could happen sooner rather than later
By William Mackay: Amir Khan took the opportunity to fire back at his old conqueror Breidis Prescott on twitter earlier today, saying “Prescott talking rubbish again or shall I say his manager/promoter talking s*** for him. They all crying for a payday. Hahahah. That’s all they want. You don’t see Prescott calling out [Kevin] Mitchell who beat him. I wonder how much he’s getting paid to fight [Paul] McCloskey. Honestly, I don’t think Prescott will beat McCloskey. Paul’s very ackward and tricky to catch. If he does our rematch will happen a lot sooner than later.”
Prescott: Khan is hoping McCloskey will beat me because he knows I’ll destroy him
By William Mackay: Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) has a pretty good idea why WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan is picking Paul McCloskey to beat him this Saturday night in their WBA light welterweight title eliminator bout in Belfast, Northern, Ireland. Prescott thinks Khan doesn’t want to fight him again after blasted out in one round in 2008.
Khan looking to fight Lamont Peterson on December 10th instead of Mattysse, Maidana or Prescott
By William Mackay: Just as many boxing fans expected, IBF/WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan is reportedly in negotiations to put together a fight against his International Boxing Federation mandatory challenger Lamont Peterson (29-1-1, 15 KO’s) on December 10th instead of taking on the much more dangerous Breidis Prescott, who already knocked Khan out, or the powerful Lucas Matthysse and Marcos Maidana.
Khan picking McCloskey to beat Prescott on Saturday
McCloskey: I will beat the guy [Prescott] that beat Khan
By Scott Gilfoid: Ireland’s Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) has a near hopeless dream of getting back in there with WBA Super World light welterweight champion Amir Khan for a second chance against him by beating Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) this coming Saturday on September 10th, at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I see a lot of pain for McCloskey on Saturday, with him lying on the canvas wondering what hit him.
Khan has to decide on facing Matthysse, Prescott, Maidana or Peterson next
By William Mackay: Amir Khan and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions were hoping to see him fight Erik Morales next if Morales beats Lucas Matthysse for the vacant WBC light welterweight on September 17th. Khan wants the WBC belt to go with his IBF and WBA strap before he moves up to the welterweight division.
Is McCloskey too weak and slow to beat Prescott?
By Scott Gilfoid: Next Saturday night Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) will be facing his moment of truth in front of his loyal Irish fans at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland in a fight against what could be the hardest puncher and most destructive fighter in the light welterweight division in Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s). McCloskey doesn’t resemble a top fighter in appearance with his slumped shoulders, the smooth and weak-looking muscles, and the complete absence of power and speed. He is good defensively, but that’s all I can really see. I still don’t know what Amir Khan saw in him to choose him as an opponent for his fight last April.
Prescott may have to knock McCloskey out to ensure that he gets the win
By Scott Gilfoid: Breidis Prescott (24-2, 12 KO’s) may be the much talented fighter but he’s going into hostile territory on September 10th against Ireland’s Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Prescott will probably out-land the offensively deficient McCloskey by a 10 to 1 margin in this fight, and land the much harder shots.
McCloskey plans on boxing Prescott: This will be an easy fight for Breidis
By William Mackay: Former European Boxing Union (EBU) light welterweight champion Paul McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO’s) is smart enough to know that if he attempts to trade with Breidis Prescott (24-2, 19 KO’s) on September 10th then he’ll be in for a world of hurt against the bigger punching Colombian.
Instead of taking a risk that could lead to him getting knocked out in the 1st round, McCloskey reportedly plans on boxing Prescott and staying away from his power. It’s going to be strictly a safety first fight for McCloskey with him just looking to make Prescott miss over and over again, and then landing a few shots in every round to try and steal them.
