There are a lot of hopes on Brandon Rios that he become the next Mike Tyson at lightweight eventually taking on Humberto Soto, then moving up to junior welterweight to hunt down Amir Khan and blast him to pieces. Brandon Rios will have to go through Miguel Acosta first before this future can materialize. Miguel Acosta has his own ambitions, beating Rios can put Acosta in line for bigger fights, against Humberto Soto to begin with. By Chris Williams: Unbeaten lightweight contender Brandon Rios (25-0-1, 18 KO’s) will be stepping in to replace the injured middleweight Kelly Pavlik as the co-main event on the Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito card on November 13th at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas. Rios, 24, will be facing 2nd tier light welterweight Omri Lowther (14-2, 10 KO’s) in a 10 round bout. The significance of this fight is about the same as if Pavlik were facing the 2nd tier Bryan Vera, which was the fighter Pavlik was supposed to be fighting.

Brandon Rios impressed with Margarito’s training for Pacquiao bout

By Chris Williams: Unbeaten lightweight contender Brandon Rios (25-0-1, 18 KO’s) is very impressed with what he’s seen of junior middleweight contender Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KO’s) as he trains Oxnard, California for his bout next month against Manny Pacquiao on November 13th. In an article at vstar.com, Rios says this about Margarito: “The way he goes non-stop, it’s impressive. When we run he’s a beast. I can keep up with him at the start, but about 30 minutes after we start, he leaves me in the dust. I pick up some moves, like when (Margarito) throws those beautiful upper cuts. When I see the way he fights inside, I watch because I fight inside too. It’s cool having him around.”
