Cintron to fight on Antillon-Rios undercard on 7/9

By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron (32-3-1, 28 KO’s) will be fighting on the undercard of the WBA lightweight title fight between champion Brandon Rios vs. challenger Urbano Antillon on July 9th. There still isn’t an opponent picked out for the 31-year-old Cintron but one should be selected shortly. Cintron recently signed with Top Rank promotions and is thought to be in the running for a fight against other Top Rank stable fighters Manny Pacquiao or Miguel Cotto in the near future.

Image: John Murray wants Brandon Rios, but has little chance of getting that fightBy William Mackay: EBU lightweight champion John Murray (30-0, 10 KO’s) would like nothing better than to have a world championship fight fall directly into his lap with the new WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios (27-0-1, 20 KO’s) giving him a shot at his title in his next fight. The chances of that happening are about zero, because Murray isn’t ranked in the top 15 by the WBA, and isn’t well known enough in the United States for Rios to even consider facing him. And besides that, Murray would likely be in way over his head in a fight against Rios and the bout would likely be a dull mismatch with Rios destroying the slow-handed Murray.
