cintron334By Manuel Perez: Kermit Cintron (31-2-1, 27 KO’s) pulled off a tremendous upset against previously unbeaten number #1 ranked light middleweight Alfredo Angulo in a 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Hollywood, Florida. Despite winning the fight and landing the weaker punches for 12 rounds, Cintron only landed fifty more punches than Angulo.

Lauri Defeats Tolppola on 10th round Disqualification; Shafikov Crushes Cotterill – Boxing Results

By Erik Schmidt: EBU-EU light welterweight champion Giuseppe Lauri (48-6, 28 KO’s) defeated Finland’s Juho Tolppola (22-6, 9 KO’s) by a 10th round disqualification on Saturday night at the Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki, Finland. The fight was hilarious to watch due the constant fouling by Tolppola, who was penalized on two separate occasions for head butts and then landing a rabbit punch on the break.

Edwards Defeats Ahmed

edwards341By Nate Anderson: British and Commonwealth flyweight champion Chris Edwards (13-13-3, 4 KOs) easily defeated challenger Usman Ahmed (5-2-1) by a 12-round unanimous decision on Friday night at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke, Staffordshire, England. The final judges’ scores were 118-109, 117-111 and 118-109. I had Edwards, 33, easily winning every round of the fight and couldn’t see Ahmed coming close to winning even one.

Will Haye Be Too Cautious to Beat Wladimir?

Thirlwall Stops Hillyard

By Daniel Cann: In an interesting middleweight competition on the undercard of the Barker v McDermott title fight, friends and sparring partners Bermondsey’s Matt Thirlwall fought George Hillyard in a scheduled ten rounder. 28 year old Thirlwall was hoping to secure a lucrative match with either the winner of the Commonwealth bout later that night or British Champion Matthew Macklin. He had to get past the chunky looking Hillyard first. The younger man started brightly taking the fight to his taller opponent. A good left hook from Hillyard caught Thirlwall cleanly.

Khan: “I Just Love Proving People Wrong”

By Chris Williams: British lightweight contender Amir Khan (20-1, 15 KOs) sounded a little deluded and like he has a mini chip on his shoulder in a recent interview in which Khan said, “I love proving people wrong. Lots of boxers and so-called experts said I’d never come back the same, but I’ve come back better.” Khan, 22, is referring to his 1st round knockout loss to Colombian Breidis Prescott in September 2008, a fight which Khan foolishly rushed out and tried to trade shots with the bigger and more powerful Prescott.

Quintero Wins Impressive Unanimous Decision

By Sam Gregory: In the co-main event Marvin Quintero 15-1 with 12 KO’s of Tijuana, Mexico 15-1 with 8 KO’s takes on Wes Ferguson 20-3-1 with 6 KO’s in a scheduled eight round lightweight bout. In the first round southpaw Quintero starts by shoting his jab trying to find his range and digging to the body. Ferguson is backed up as Quintero walks him down and lands his jab to possibly pull out the first round.

Charr Stops Oloukun

charr4534234By Erik Schmidt: Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Manuel Charr (11-0, 5 KOs) defeated former Nigerian 2004 heavyweight Olympian Gbenga Oloukun (16-1, 10 KOs) by a 7th round TKO on Saturday night at the Konig Palast, in Krefield, Nordhein-Westfalen, Germany. Charr, 24, hit Oloukun with a hard left to the midsection in the 7th, causing Oloukun to back away several steps and crouch down in pain. Referee Oliver Brien then counted Oloukun out at 1:29 of the 7th before he could make it to his feet.
