Pacquiao willing to give Mayweather 55/45 split, but thinks he’s afraid to fight

Image: Pacquiao willing to give Mayweather 55/45 split, but thinks he's afraid to fightBy Chris Williams: In an interview on ESPN earlier Thursday, Manny Pacquiao said he’d be willing to give Floyd Mayweather Jr. a 55/45 split of the purse just to make the fight happen along with full drug testing for performance enhancing drugs.

Pacquiao said this as quoted by fighthype.com “I’m waiting for that fight [Mayweather] to happen…It’s okay for me if he gets the higher percentage than me…I told him [Mayweather] that I agree with 45 and 55. No problem [full drug testing]. Whatever he wants. Even the night of the fight, no problem.”

Sergio Martinez, Mayweather, Andre Ward

Image: Sergio Martinez, Mayweather, Andre WardBy Robert Elmore: Sergio Martinez put on a clinic against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. last weekend and many are clamoring for a rematch. There is no need for one. Freddie Roach has done a decent job with Chavez, but Freddie doesn’t teach fundamentals. That coupled with the fact Julio’s weight is not always intact and Chavez doing what he wants to at almost every turn when it comes to training.

Team Martinez refuses to go up to the super middleweight division but is willing to shrink himself down to 154 for Mayweather and 152 for Pacquiao The word is that the new WBC rules will not allow their title holder to unify the belts from rival sanctioning body. So I guess we’ll see Martinez fight against some tomato cans or fight a big name in a non-title fight.

Sergio Martinez to undergo surgery next week

Image: Sergio Martinez to undergo surgery next weekBy Allan Fox: WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (50-2-2, 28 KO’s) will reportedly be undergoing surgery next week in Spain to repair damage to his right knee that he suffered before his win over former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) last Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Martinez, 37, came into the Chavez Jr. fight with a possible tear of his Meniscus cartilage in his right knee. During the 12th, Martinez aggravated it when he was knocked down by Chavez Jr. The knee will now have to be operated on and depending on the extent of the injuries, Martinez will likely be out of action for at least four months recovering from the surgery while he slowly heals. He’ll have to strengthen the knee afterwards before he’ll be ready to return to action.

Reid who made his ring debut back in February 1993, went on to claim his first world title with a 7th round stoppage of the hard Italian Vincenzo Nardiello in Italy way back in 96.

Martin Murray to fight for interim WBA middleweight title on November 24th

Image: Martin Murray to fight for interim WBA middleweight title on November 24thBy Scott Gilfoid: #2 WBO, #3 WBA, #3 WBC, Martin Murray (24-0-1, 10 KO’s) will be fighting for the interim WBA World middleweight title on November 24th against an opponent still be to determined at the M.E.N Arena, in Manchester, England. This is the same card that Ricky Hatton will be making his comeback on, and that’s going to be bizarre to see him fighting. I hope they don’t pick someone too good for Ricky. Hate to see him get knocked cold again.

As far as Murray getting the chance to fight for the interim WBA 160 lb title goes, I think that’s so wrong. Murray, 29, needs to actually beat someone and he’s not done that. All his victories are against obscure guys that I’ve never heard of. Yeah, Murray got a 12 round draw in his fight with WBA Super World middleweight champion Felix Sturm last December, but I had Sturm winning that fight and no way did I see that as being a draw. Sturm must be really slipping for him to have struggled against the likes of Murray. A younger Sturm would have likely done a number on Murray, but he’s gotten kind of old lately.
