By Jim Dower: With the cancellation of his unification bout against World Boxing Organization (WBO) light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer that was scheduled for Saturday, WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov (10-1, 6 KO’s) has found a replacement in 40-year-old WBA middleweight champion William Joppy (39-6-2, 30 KO’s) to fight at the Ice Mansion, in Schymkent, Kazakhstan on Saturday. Brahmer sick, unification bout against Shumenov is off
By Eric Thomas: The unification bout scheduled for this Saturday night between WBO light heavyweight champion Jurgen Brahmer (36-2, 29 KO’s) and World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight champ Beibut Shumenov (10-6 KO’s), has been called off after the 32-year-old Brahmer pulled out of the fight due to a bad gastrointestinal illness he suddenly developed. According to news from fightnews, Brahmer developed a bad case of diarrhea, nausea, vomiting as well as a bad headache.
It looks as if Brahmer was losing fluid from both ends of his body. Given that the fight was supposed to be taking place on Saturday, Brahmer’s camp decided to cancel the fight rather than take the risk of putting their man out there in less than 100% condition for the fight.

By Andrew Meggers-Lloyd: You’d have to have had your head buried in the sand over the last few years, to have not been impressed by the waves 23 year old Nathan Cleverly has been making in the ligh-heavyweight division, and in the Boxing world in general. The affable Welshman has many admirers throughout Europe following his convincing victories of late, namely against the previously unbeaten German hope, Karo Murat in Manchester in September. Not only has he been convincing in the Boxing ring, but he has combined his fights and training with studying for a Mathematics degree at Cardiff University, graduating with honours.
