Barry McGuigan thinks Haye could KO Joshua

joshua100By Scott Gilfoid: Former world champion Barry McGuigan sees unbeaten #2 WBC heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) as still a very flawed fighter at this point in his young pro career, and he thinks that former two division world champion David Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) would have the potential of knocking out the easy to hit 26-year-old Joshua.

It’s hard to argue with that notion because Joshua makes it easy for his opponents to nail him with his bad habit of bum rushing his opponents and mindless throwing flurries. I think Joshua’s bad habits are a product of the terrible opposition that he was being fed in his first 14 fights as a pro by his promoter Eddie Hearn.

Joshua to be offered IBF eliminator opportunity against Takam

joshua1234By Scott Gilfoid: The International Boxing Federation are poised to offer British heavyweight Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) an eliminator bout against 35-year-old #6 IBF Carlos Takam (33-2-1, 25 KOs) if he’s interested in fighting for a shot to become the mandatory to IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin.

It’s unclesar whether Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn will accept to go that round, because they might feel like they have the money to get the fight with a huge offer to Martin rather than having to work for it with a risky fight against a tough fighter like Takam.

Hearn brags about Anthony Joshua being in demand by other top heavyweights

joshua567787By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is quite pleased that his fighter unbeaten #2 WBC heavyweight Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) is attracting so much interest from the other top heavyweights in the division.

Hearn brags that this week the following heavyweights have mentioned the 27-year-old Joshua’s name: Tyson Fury, Joseph Parker, Dereck Chisora, David Haye, Malik Scott and Dillian Whyte. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Joshua will be fighting any of them, so it’s kind of pointless for Hearn to be mentioning their names.

Hearn openly says the 6’4” Joseph Parker isn’t ready for a fight against Joshua. Hearn wants Parker to win more fights and become better known among the British boxing public before he looks to one day make a fight between them.

Tyson Fury says he’ll KO Anthony Joshua, wants the fight

fury1000By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) might look to face #2 WBC Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) later this year if he can get past former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a rematch.

It was thought that Fury would look to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder or IBF champion Charles Martin later this year in a unification fight. Surprisingly, Fury is jabbering about wanting to get inside the ring with Joshua, who looked terrible in his last fight against Dillian Whyte last December.

Helenius vacates EBU title, clears way for Joshua-Chisora fight

helenius456By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Kalle Sauerland was right about undefeated Robert Helenius (22-0, 13 KOs) vacating his EBU heavyweight title rather than defend it against challenger Derek Chisora (25-5, 17 KOs). According to Fight News, Helenius has vacated his EBU strap rather than defend the belt.

Helenius wants to go after a world title instead of getting stuck defending the EBU title over and over again. The big money obviously comes from capturing one of the world heavyweight titles and then looking for unification fights against the likes of Tyson Fury, Charles Martin and Deontay Wilder.

By Helenius vacating the EBU title, it now increases the chances for a fight between the 31-year-old Chisora and #2 WBC Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs).

Joshua vs. Chisora possible for EBU strap, says Sauerland

chisora5By Scott Gilfoid: Dereck Chisora’s promoter Kalle Sauerland believes that there is a chance that the European Boxing Union could order a fight between Chisora (25-5, 17 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) to fight for the EBU heavyweight title if the current champion Robert Helenius chooses to vacate his title.

Sauerland is in negotiations right now for a fight between Helenius and Chisora, but he’s hearing from his sources that Helenius may vacate and instead choose to go after one of the world titles rather than defend the EBU strap. As such, Sauerland is hoping the EBU orders Joshua to face Chisora for their EBU strap.

David Haye: I’ll fight Anthony Joshua next if the public wants it

haye#1By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye’s easy 1st round knockout win over a punching bag-like Mark De Mori (30-2-2, 26 KOs) last Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, UK, seems to have planted ideas into his head, because Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) is now bragging about how he sees himself as the hardest puncher and the fastest heavyweight on earth right now.

Haye also says he would be willing to step inside the ring in his next fight against British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) if the British boxing public wants it. Obviously, they would fancy that fight, but that does not mean it will happen.

Joshua’s trainer says he got carried away in Whyte fight early

joshua1234By Scott Gilfoid: British/Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) came close to being knocked out in the 2nd round of his grudge match fight against Dillian Whyte (16-1, 13 KOs) last December in London, UK.

If not for Whyte suffering a shoulder injury and gassing out, Joshua would have surely been beaten for the first time in his career. It was a stroke of luck that Whyte injured his shoulder and faded almost immediately, because those two things normally don’t’ occur in pairs in fights like they did last December.

Whyte surprised at how slow Anthony Joshua is

whyte6By Scott Gilfoid: Dillian Whyte (16-1, 13 KOs) tasted defeat for the first time in his young career last December when he was stopped in the 7th round by unbeaten Commonwealth heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (15-0, 15 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

Whyte says his left shoulder tightened up on him in the 2nd round, and he was exhausted. There were several things that Whyte took from the fight. First off, he noticed Joshua was very slow. He does not have great hand speed in Whyte’s mind.
