Joshua vs. Pulev possible for Nov.

By Jeff Aranow: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is interested in potentially making a huge heavyweight triple-header on November 26, with IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua vs. Kubrat Pulev (23-1, 12 KOs) headlining at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in late November or December. Also on the card, British heavyweights Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora is in play. A match between heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker is another one of the fights for the card. Discussions are being held for the fights, and it would be a pretty big deal if the card comes off.

Parker, 24, is Joshua’s IBF mandatory challenger, but Hearn will likely wait until early 2017 before he puts the fight together between them. In the meantime, Parker can get some valuable air time on Sky Box Office if he fights the 6’8” Price on the undercard of the Joshua-Pulev card. Price, 33, wants a title shot against Joshua, and if he can beat Parker, he would earn the fight.

Price wants Parker, Breazeale or Molina for Joshua card

Image: Price wants Parker, Breazeale or Molina for Joshua card

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) and his trainer Dave Coldwell are highly ambitious for the Anthony Joshua undercard on November 26 in wanting the likes of Joseph Parker, Dominic Breazeale (17-1, 15 KOs) or Eric Molina as an opponent.

Price, 33, is hoping that with a win over one of the above mentioned fighters, he’ll be able to get a title shot against Joshua. However, it might take a win over someone better than Breazeale or Molina for the 6’8” Price to get a shot against Joshua.

It’s not as if Breazeale and Molina have been getting great results with their careers lately. If Price could beat the young 24-year-old Joseph Parker on November 26, it would be a HUGE win for him, and obviously that would open the door for a title shot against Joshua.

Haye would beat Joshua, says Charles

haye6

By Scott Gilfoid: Don Charles, the trainer for Dereck Chisora, thinks that former two division world champion David “Hayemaker” Haye (28-2, 26 KOs) would beat unbeaten IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) if the two British heavyweights were to face each other right now.

Charles thinks that the 35-year-old Haye’s ability to make his opponents miss would help him beat the much bigger 6’6” 245lb Joshua. The problem is that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn isn’t in a hurry to match his money maker against Haye.

While Hearn has been talking about wanting to make that fight in 2017, I’d be very surprised if he does. The only way I see Hearn letting Joshua fight Haye next year is if we see a poor performance from the “Haymaker” in his next fight in 2016. At this point, I don’t even know if Haye is going to fight again this year, because he’s been out of the ring since his easy win over little known fringe contender Arnold Gjergjaj last May.

Hearn wants Price to fight Parker in final eliminator for Joshua match

price1

By Scott Gilfoid: If Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn gets his way, British heavyweight David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) will be fighting on the undercard of International Boxing Federation heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next fight in November in a final eliminator bout against Joseph Parker.

Price, 33, is very interested in fighting Joshua in November. Hearn says he wants Price to get a big win in a break through fight for him to earn the fight against Joshua. Hearn wants Joshua to be fighting only credible opponents right now for his next fight, and he’s looking at one of the three following opponents for that fight: Bermane Stiverne, Kubrat Pulev and Joseph Parker.

Anthony Joshua to fight on November 26

joshua566

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) will be fighting on November 26 against an opponent still to be determined. The fight won’t take place at the O2 Arena in London, UK, according to Sky Sports News. As previously mentioned, the two leading options for Joshua’s November fight is 37-year-old former WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne and former world title challenger Kubrat Pulev.

Both fighters have their plus and minuses about them. It’s likely that Stiverne will get the fight if Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn can successfully negotiate the fight with Stiverne’s promoter Don King. If not, then you can expect to see the 6’4 1/2” Pulev get the nod.

Hearn’s dad Barry Hearn is said to be keen on the idea of having Joshua fight Stiverne. Perhaps the fight plays out well in the UK or something. Stiverne isn’t well known with the casual boxing fans in the U.S.

Jarrell Miller trashes Fury, Joshua and Wilder

Image: Jarrell Miller trashes Fury, Joshua and Wilder

By Patrick McHugh: Undefeated heavyweight contender Jarrell Miller (18-0-1, 16 KOs) did what he said he was going to do last night in stopping the capable Fred Kassi (18-6-1, 10 KOs) in the 3rd round on Showtime Boxing from the Rhinos Stadium in Rochester, NY. Miller, also known as “Big Bady”, trashed the top heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, letting Showtime audience know what he personally thinks of these three champions.

The 28-year-old Miller is just itching for the chance to challenge one of them, because he feels he’s got the talent to unseat them. It’s going to be exciting to see if Miller can do that because at this rate, he should be in range for a world title shot by 2017, possibly 2018 if the sanctioning bodies move him up slowly.

David Price’s trainer says they want Joshua fight for November

price667

By Scott Gilfoid: Trainer Dave Coldwell says his fighter David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) is willing to take the fight with IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. They’re ready and more than willing to accept that fight. Price revealed recently that he had toppled Joshua during a sparring session in the past five years ago.

Coldwell likes the aggressiveness that Price showed in revealing that information, which is usually something that’s not shared by fighters in discussing their sparring with different guys. Price opted to break a taboo by revealing what happened during the sparring session with Joshua in 2011.

Some would say that this is a sign of the 33-year-old Price being desperate to get the fight against Joshua. It does seem kind of weird that Price is flapping his gums about the past right now with him been recently knocked out by Erkan Teper in two rounds last year.

David Price brags about knocking out Joshua

price1

by Scott Gilfoid: David Price appears to want a world title shot against IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in the worst way. Price (20-3, 17 KOs) wants the title shot so much that he’s bringing up an old sparring session from 2011 in which he says he knocked Joshua out. I suppose thinking process is if Price talks to the media enough about the sparring episode, it could lead to Joshua giving him a title shot.

I’m not sure if Price’s bragging about the sparring session will lead to him getting the fight with Joshua though, because it’s not just about trying to get the 26-year-old former 2012 Olympic gold medalist worked up enough to want to give him the fight.

Hughie Fury vs. Anthony Joshua will have to wait until 2017

joshua566

By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn says that a fight was offered to unbeaten Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) for him to fight IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua but his team would rather the fight take place in 2017. Hughie’s trainer/father Peter Fury recently expressed interest in making a fight between the young 21-year-old Hughie and Joshua.

It’s unclear what made him change his mind about taking that fight, because it’s hard to imagine anything changing a year from now. I mean, I can’t see the 6’6” Hughie doing better against Joshua in 2017 than he could now. Heck, I can’t even see Hughie doing well against Joshua five years from now.

We’ve heard all the blather about Hughie being a different fighter once he gains his man strength, but if he hasn’t gotten any power by 21, I don’t see it ever happening.

Hughie still in the mix for Joshua’s next fight

hughie93

By Scott Gilfoid: Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KOs) still has an outside chance of getting picked for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s next fight in November, but it’s probably not a good chance judging by the comments from Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn. He has a number of other options and he’s not quite sure whether to match Joshua against Hughie at this time. Hearn says he’s tried to match Joshua against Hughie in the past but there wasn’t interest on his side at the time.

“We are talking to a few possible opponents about a November fight for AJ and as Hughie is in the IBF top 15, I’m happy to put him in the mix,” said Hearn to skysports.com. “As I understand it, Hughie has a UKAD hearing in November, so I’m not sure how that will affect things.”
