By Tim Royner: Not happy that he’s not being taken seriously by IBF/WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua as a realistic opponent for the summer, Tyson Fury fired back at him on Sunday by saying he will be ready to face him by mid-year. Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) says he’ll be ready to fight Joshua by this summer.
By Tim Royner: Joseph Parker’s promoter David Higgins will be traveling to England on Monday to meet with Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn to seal the deal for a unification fight against IBF, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on March 31 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. That’s a large stadium that seats 78,000 fans. Joshua recently fought at that venue for his last fight against Carlos Takam on October 28.

This news about Fury volunteering to face Joshua straightaway in 2018 is probably going to put a big smile on Eddie Hearn’s gob. He won’t have to wait for the Fury fight. Hearn can make the Fury-Joshua fight in immediately after the Joshua vs. Joseph Parker fight. Hearn can get Fury while he’s good and rusty, and entirely vulnerable. That’s a positive for Joshua, because it increases his chances of winning the mega-fight. An in shape Fury could deal Joshua a bad defeat and hurt his future earning power.
