Teofimo Lopez vs. Shakur Stevenson will hold their kickoff press conference this week on Wednesday, December 10th, in New York City to discuss their fight next month.

MSG Announcement? Fans Only Ask One Question

Earlier today, it was revealed that the January 31st Ring 6 event will be staged at Madison Square Garden in New York. That made East Coast fans happy, as many of them will be looking to attend the live show.

What the average fan is really interested in is how much the Lopez-Stevenson event will cost on DAZN PPV on January 31st, 2026. That was what they really wanted to hear. Making it free is the ideal present, as many of them are taxed out of the numerous PPV events each month.

Two Non-PPV Stars on PPV

Shakur and Teofimo aren’t PPV fighters. So, it doesn’t matter that they’re fighting each other. Two negatives don’t make a positive. Stevenson’s hit-and-not-get-hit style is a cup of poison for the eyes. And with Teo, he’s adopted Stevenson’s style, seemingly mimicking him for his last two fights, resulting in dull performances.

Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) and WBO light welterweight champion Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) will meet in the main event on DAZN. For the former three-division world champion Shakur, it’s a bout that allows him to win a fourth division belt.

Teo Still Avoiding the Wolves

Lopez gets a nice payday out of the fight, but it will not prove that he’s the best at 140. Stevenson is a lightweight moving up to enhance his legacy against a popular, but not necessarily the best, fighter at light welterweight. We don’t know who the #1 guy is at 140, given that the champions haven’t fought.

By now, Teofimo should have already fought the top dogs at 140: Gary Antuanne Russell, Subriel Matias, and Richardson Hitchins. He’s chosen instead to fight the likes of Steve Claggett, Arnold Barboza Jr., and a faded Josh Taylor in recent fights.

Teofimo-Shakur is more about a fight between two popular fighters, but not one of the best in their divisions. They’re well-maneuvered fighters who haven’t shown an eagerness to face the lions.

Shakur Roasted for Dodging Foster

We’ve witnessed that in the last day with Shakur’s dismissive attitude about defending against his new WBC mandatory O’Shaquie Foster. Teofimo is the same way when asked about fighting the top guys at 140, like Antuanne Russell, Matias, and Hitchins. He doesn’t want to know them.
