Shakur Stevenson Tells Foster “Take the Belt” — Vacating Incoming?

Shakur Stevenson told his new mandatory O’Shaquie Foster that he “could have the [WBC lightweight] belt.” He said that he’s about to make more money against Teofimo Lopez than Foster “will ever make.”

Shakur Tells Foster: “Take the Belt”

Foster’s reaction to Shakur’s post was predictable, saying, “Dude terrified of me.” What else could he say in reacting to Stevenson revealing that he’ll give him the belt rather than fight him?

It didn’t take long for Shakur (24-0, 11 KOs) to begin talking about vacating his WBC 135-lb title. Last Saturday, O’Shaquie Foster captured the WBC interim lightweight title, beating Stephen Fulton by a wide 12-round unanimous decision in San Antonio, Texas.

Immediately upon winning the WBC interim belt, Foster (24-3, 12 KOs) called out Shakur, letting him know that he wanted to fight him. In reaction to Foster’s callout, Stevenson told him that he wouldn’t fight him until he faced super featherweight Ray Ford. Using him as an obstacle made Shakur appear weak and afraid.

“That mandatory s*** don’t mean nothing. You could have that belt,” said Shakur Stevenson on social media about potentially giving up his WBC lightweight title rather than defend it against O’Shaquie Foster.

Why Shakur Prefers Teofimo

“You know how much money I’m making in this fight? More than you’ll ever make in your life. Now, say, ‘Please,’ little boy,” said Shakur, bragging about the money he’ll be making in his next fight against Teofimo Lopez and wanting Foster to know that he’ll never make that kind of dough.

“Buddy [Shakur] crashing out, ready to drop the belt. Dude terrified of me,” said Foster on X about Shakur.

With the money that Stevenson is getting for his fight against Teofimo Lopez on January 31, he wouldn’t want to return to the lightweight division to face Foster. He won’t be paid nearly as well, and he could lose. There’s a very good chance Stevenson would get beaten.
