By Robert Segal: Top Rank has added former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr to a multi-fight co-promotional deal that will enable the Australian star to receive high visibility performing on ESPN and access to promoter Bob Arum’s large stable of fighters.

The 29-year-old Kambosos will be promoted by Lou DiBella and Top Rank with Bob Arum and his company Ferocious Promotions.

Kambosos will have his next fight announced shortly. He’s coming off a two-fight losing streak at the hands of Devin Hany in 2022 in fights that took place in Australia. The charismatic Kambosos made life-changing money from those fights.

Arum hasn’t yet said who he’ll be matching Kambosos up with, but it makes sense that we could see him soon facing Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, Josh Taylor, Arnold Barboza Jr, Keyshawn Davis, and possibly even a trilogy match with Haney at some point down the line.

The opportunities for fights that Kambosos Jr will have with Top Rank are almost endless, and he could see himself making a lot of money in the coming years.

“George Kambosos Jr. is an exciting fighter and an engaging personality who will continue to make great fights in the lightweight division. We are thrilled that he has signed a co-promotional agreement with Top Rank,” said Top Rank chairman Bob Arum. “Top Rank was involved in two historical promotions in Australia with George, and we have no doubt that there will be many more to come.”

If Arum & DiBella can reach out with Golden Boy, Ryan Garcia would be an excellent option for Kambosos Jr to fight rather than Maxi Hughes, the name mentioned as his next fight.

There would be a lot of interest in a fight between Kambosos Jr and Ryan, as both guys are coming off of losses and have large followings.

Kambosos wants to put himself back in a position to challenge for a world title at 135, be it against the undisputed champion Haney or WBA secondary champ Gervonta Davis. Fighting Maxi Hughes would further Kambosos Jr’s goal of getting ranked for a title shot.

If Top Rank doesn’t get Kambosos a big name like Ryan Garcia or Shakur Stevenson, Hughes would be a good fight that would help him get another chance at a belt.
