By Sean Jones: Challenger John Ryder is ready to pull off the upset and dethrone undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez this Saturday, May 6th, live on DAZN PPV at the Estadio Akron, in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The pay-per-view portion of the Canelo-Ryder card starts at 8:00 pm. ET, live on DAZN this Saturday night. Ryder has the perfect style to defeat Canelo with his high work rate and great engine.

If Ryder forces Canelo to work hard in the first four rounds, he’ll likely gas out and fight on fumes for the final eight rounds, as we saw in his recent bouts against Gennadiy Golovkin and Dmitry Bivol.

Ryder (32-5, 18 KOs) can change his and his family’s life with a victory over the superstar Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) in their bout in Guadalajara. John will make millions in a rematch with Canelo if he comes out victorious on Saturday.

It won’t be easy for Ryder because he’s fighting in Canelo’s backyard in Mexico, which means he will need to put it on him so the judges can’t possibly take it away from him.

We’ve seen Canelo get what many felt was favorable judging in half a dozen of his fights during his carer, and some believe that he should have additional five losses to go along with his defeats against Floyd Mayweather Jr and Dmitry Bivol.

“For this camp, we’ve left no stone unturned. We’ve done everything right so far,” said John Ryder to Matchroom Boxing. “In this last week of camp, we have had a change of scenery. Just really focused as a team.

“This is the time I’ve dreamed about. I’ve worked hard, kept my head down, and I’m finally here. I just got to embrace it. No one has ever given up on me, and I’m not going to give up on myself,” Ryder continued.

“I think as a team, it’s owed to us all. I took the roughness move all the way all for this sole goal of this fight,” said Ryder. “It’s about recharging this week. The rest is just as important now as the training.

“The majority of the hard work is done. A couple of hard spars left. I want to show them that you can achieve your dreams. I feel like I’m the best version of myself coming into this fight. I feel like, mentally & physically, I’m in the best condition I’ve ever been.

“Everything I’ve picked up along the way, I’m taking it into the ring with me on May 6th. If I win this fight, I’ve absolutely changed the life of me and my family. This is what I’ve dreamed of since I was a kid, and coming into this sport when times have gotten bad, I didn’t think it would happen.

“I’ve worked hard and kept my head down, and I’ve got to embrace it and enjoy it. I’ve never given up on myself. These people have stuck by me through the good and the bad. It’s a great opportunity, and I don’t plan on wasting it.

“He’s had a good camp in this camp. I’m really pleased with what he’s done. He’s a true professional,” said trainer Tony Sims about Ryder. “He’s ready to go. We’re finishing out this week. We’re just getting used to the heat. I feel he’ll be acclimatized. He’s had good sparring, and he’s ready to fight, really.”
