By Dan Ambrose: Robeisy Ramirez will be battling Isaac Dogboe on April 1st live on ESPN+, possibly for the vacant or interim WBO featherweight belt in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Robeisy has looked sensational recently, stopping his last three opponents, Jose Matias Romero, Abraham Nova, and Eric Donovan. The two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy is getting better & better with each fight and could be the best fighter in the division right now.

WHAT TIME IS RAMIREZ VS. DOGBOE?

  • Date: Saturday, April 1
  • Start time:  8:00 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. BST
  • Main event ringwalks (approx): 11:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 a.m. BST
  • Viewers in the U.S. can watch the fight live on ESPN+
  • Sky Sports  has been named the UK broadcaster for this fight.
  • The fight will take place at the Hard Rock Casino in Tusla, Oklahoma, United States.
  • The main card is set to get underway at 8:00 p.m. ET / 1 a.m. BST with the main event ringwalks scheduled for 11:00 p.m. ET / 4:00 a.m. BST.

The WBO 126-lb belt was held by Emanuel Navarrete, who is moving up to 130 to battle for the vacant WBO super featherweight title on February 3rd  against Liam Wilson.

It’s perhaps a good thing for Dogboe (24-2, 16 KOs) that Navarrete is moving up in weight because he’s already lost twice to him, and the last thing he needs is a third defeat against the tough Mexican, who has his number.

Of course, this is neither here nor there because the #1 WBO-ranked Dogboe is up against in facing #3 Robeisy (11-1, 7 KOs) for the interim or vacant WBO 126-lb belt on April 1st.

Although the 29-year-old Robeisy is a year older than the 28-year-old Dogboe, he’s the fresher of the two and is fighting at a higher level.

On paper, Dogboe lacks the defense and the power to win this fight against the talented two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist Robeisy.

We’ll likely see Dogboe easily handled by Romero as Navarrete did to the Ghanaian fighter in his two wins in 2018 & 2019.

Robeisy has looked sharp since shockingly losing his debut fight against Adan Gonzales by a four round split decision in August 2019.

Since that fight, Robeisy has been fighting with more of a sense of urgency from the start of his fight and has won his last 11 fights. He avenged his loss to Gonzales in 2016, winning a one-sided six round unanimous decision.

If the two were to fight now, it’s fair to say that Robeisy would destroy Gonzales easily, as he’s progressed in the last three years and is fighting on another level than when the two battled.

Dogboe has won his last four fights, beating Chris Avalos, Joet Gonzalez, Adam Lopez, and Christopher Diaz. He’s looked good since his consecutive losses to Navarrete, but he’s going up against a very good fighter in Robeisy, who is firing on all eight cylinders and looking unbeatable.

“Robeisy Ramirez and Isaac Dogboe will meet in a featherweight bout with title implications on April 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma,” said Mike Coppinger to ESPN.

“The Top Rank Boxing on ESPN+ main event is expected to be contested for either the vacant WBO featherweight title or the interim belt.”
