By Vince D’Writer: Prior to his bout with Robbie Davies Jr, 34-year-old junior welterweight boxer Darragh Foley fought in the UK three times, and he lost all three bouts, but the fourth time was the charm, as Foley scored a 3rd round TKO victory over Robbie Davies Jr at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, England.

As the bell rang to start the bout, the hometown boxer Robbie Davies Jr was very active with his lead hand. He utilized it as a distraction, and as a result he was able to set up and land a couple of solid right-hand shots.

During the course of the second round, Davies was able to dictate the pace of the round by using the jab and landing shots to Foley’s body. In the closing seconds of round 2, Foley landed a big right hand that sent Davies down to the canvas.

As Davies was going down, his right leg bent back awkwardly, and it appeared as though he may have suffered an ankle sprain. However, Davies was able to get up as the bell sounded to officially end the round.

At the start of the third round, Davies appeared to have successfully cleared his head, but he was moving around with a noticeable limp. Twelve seconds into the third round, Foley landed a solid jab, and then he attempted to land a second jab. As Davies tried to step back to avoid the second jab attempt, he suffered a horrific twist of the ankle.

Davies was in no shape to continue as the referee put a halt to the contest, and Darragh Foley (22-4-1, 10 KOs) was awarded the TKO victory. This was a pivotal fight for both men, and fortunately for Foley, he was able to finally leave the UK with a win.

It was a disappointing night for the 33-year-old Robbie Davies Jr (23-4, 15 KOs) as his three-fight win streak came to an end, and on top of that, he may have suffered a severe injury. The combination of the loss and the ankle injury are setbacks Davies will have to deal with while he figures out his next career move.

As for Darragh Foley, the Sydney, Australia native who now lives in Ireland, has his eyes set on an opportunity two months from now. During his post-fight interview, he asked for a favor from promoter Eddie Hearn.

Prior to the start of the Davies-Foley bout, Eddie Hearn announced that on May 20, undisputed lightweight champion Katie Taylor will have her homecoming fight in Dublin, Ireland, as she is set to take on undisputed junior welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron.

Darragh Foley is aware of the big fight, and during his post-fight interview, he decided to start his campaign in regards to securing a spot on the undercard.

“There is a fight in my backyard, my second backyard, May the 20th, Ireland. Come on, Eddie, man, come on, Eddie.” Foley would go on to get the crowd involved to help him with his plea to fight on May 20th.

“Hey Liverpool, do I deserve to fight in Dublin on May 20th?! Make me a noise! Come on, Liverpool, make me a noise! Eddie, are you listening?! You listening, Eddie?!”
