By Huck Allen: Undefeated phenom Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis goes after the vacant interim IBF welterweight title tonight against once-beaten Karen Chukhadzhian in a battle on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs. Hector Garcia card on 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime PPV at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C.

‘Boots’ Ennis (29-0, 27 KOs) hopes to use the IBF interim 147-lb title as a pawn to either force a fight against welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr or have him vacate the belt to squirm free from his entrapment to duck out from a potentially humiliating knockout loss to the younger 25-year-old lion.

Ennis is coming off a sensational second round knockout over previously unbeaten Canadian Custio Clayton (19-1-1, 12 KOs) on May 14th in an IBF title eliminator.

In the opposite corner, the 26-year-old Ukrainian Chukhadzhian (21-1, 11 KOs) is fresh off his sixth round stoppage over Australian Blake Minto (14-4-2, 3 KOs) on July 2nd in Germany.

Although Chukhadzhian hasn’t been hyped in the same way that ‘Boots’ Ennis, he’s still a capable contender and will give a good effort tonight for as long as this contest lasts.

Ennis has let the media know that the’s going to be looking to end the fight with Chukhadzhian early so that he can make a statement to the other welterweights in the decision of who the top dog is.

I don’t give a f**k about him on that level. The real is going to reveal itself soon enough,”  when asked to Cobbs if Boots Ennis shouldn’t have taken the fight with Chukhadzhian.

“Blair ‘The Flair’ is here. Soon enough, we’re going to answer some questions because I’m sure he’s thinking the same thing. These fighters that don’t fight any kind of real competition that it gets to the point where everything is so easy for them, they’ve got questions in their own mind.

“Oh, we’re going to find out who is the b**ch. We’re going to find out. I’m already proven. I already took a lot of high-risk, low-reward fights in a time of me developing as an athlete and as a boxer. I learned on the road to success,” said Cobbs.

“He’s raised in some of the exact same gyms I’m raised in, and that’s how it happens. Real knows real. I understand that he’s a great fighter, he’s great at what he does, and he’s the best that Philadelphia has to offer outside of myself,” said Cobbs.
