Carl Froch says Fury beats Usyk 8 out of 10 times they fight

By Scott Gilfoid: Former super middleweight unified champion Carl Froch is fully onboard the Tyson Fury express, believing the WBC heavyweight champion would defeat IBF, WBA & WBO champ Oleksandr Usyk eight out of ten times.

Froch maintains that Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs), who is showing signs of slowing down at 34 due to his advancing age and weight issues, is someone that “nobody” can defeat. You hate to say it, but Fury shows age around the gills.

Given that Fury was quite fortunate not to have been knocked out in two of his fights and disqualified for fouling in his third contest with Deontay Wilder, that’s pretty bold talking from Froch.

Even if you ignore those two defeats & disqualification that Fury arguably should have from his three fights with the 6’7″ Deontay, it’s hard to picture him beating Joe Joyce, the slippery eel Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs), and the new kid on the block two-time Olympian Bakhodir Jalolov.

Heck, you can even throw in still-green 23-year-old Jared Anderson, that would have an excellent chance of defeating the one-trick pony Fury at this stage of his career.

“Nobody is good enough to beat Tyson Fury, nobody,” said Carl Froch to Boxing UK. “Listen, Usyk is good enough to beat anybody. On his night, that would include Tyson Fury, but Tyson Fury would have to have a really bad night, and Usyk would have to be phenomenal.”

It sounds like a lot of wishful thinking on Froch’s part, seeing things in his mind that Fury doesn’t possess in a real-world sense.  Froch needs to sit down, have a big cup of strong coffee and take a good hard look at some of Fury’s recent fights so he can understand that he’s an old guy on his last legs, ripe for the picking against Joyce, Usyk and revitalized Deontay.

It’s fair to say that the witch’s brew of the natural aging process and loads of money Fury has made in the last four years have deteriorated his physical skills.

“I just don’t think Usyk is big enough for Tyson Fury,” said Froch. “I think he’s [Usyk] good enough to beat anybody, but if he fought Tyson Fury ten times, he’d lose eight times. If that fight ever happens, and I hope it does, I think Fury will be the victory,” said Froch.
