By Vince Dwriter: Eleven days prior to headlining a major Showtime Pay-per-view fight card at the Capital One Arena in Washington D.C., undefeated WBA (regular) lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis was arrested on December 27, in Parkland, Florida, on a domestic charge of battery causing bodily harm.

The 28-year-old Davis appeared in court Wednesday morning, and his bond was set at $1,000. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the superstar boxer found himself in trouble in the state of Florida.

Back in February 2020, Davis was hit with a domestic violence charge of simple battery in Coral Gables, Florida. The occurrence was caught on video, and it showed Davis grabbing the mother of his child by the throat during a charity basketball game. Fortunately for Davis, the case was eventually dropped.

In regards to the new development, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office incident report states that Davis allegedly struck the victim with a closed hand type of slap, and as a result, the victim suffered an abrasion on the inside of her upper lip. In addition to his new legal situation, Davis has another case that is scheduled to be resolved.

Back in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland, Gervonta Davis is due in Baltimore Circuit Court on February 16, 2023, for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident that took place in November 2020. Davis is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident involving bodily injury.

Tank Davis ( 27-0, 25 KOs) is a skilled boxer-puncher who possesses extraordinary knockout power. He recently parted ways with Mayweather Promotions, and he’s on the verge of cashing in on two lucrative fight opportunities when he faces Hector Luis Garcia on January 7 and his clash with arch-rival Ryan Garcia in April 2023.

While Tank Davis is lining up all of these lucrative opportunities, Gervonta Davis is putting them all in jeopardy due to the fact that he keeps placing himself in bad predicaments. However, Gervonta Davis is innocent until proven guilty, so the proper thing to do is to wait and see how all of the legal issues play out.

With his newfound freedom to call the shots for his boxing career, Tank Davis is in a position to make and win a series of fights that will automatically punch his ticket for the Boxing Hall of Fame. On the other hand, if Gervonta Davis doesn’t make the effort to be more protective and properly secure the bags, then Tank Davis will miss out on multiple money-making opportunities.

Once again, the legal system is put in place in order for an individual to receive due process, so we can’t publicly fault Gervonta Davis at this point, but if he’s able to come out of all of these situations unscathed, then we can encourage him to be more careful.

In a recent interview, Tank Davis admitted to his belief that no one can stop him inside of the ring. He verbally stated that the only person who could stop him is Gervonta Davis. We hope that Tank can control Gervonta because he is a special talent who is great, but he can be greater, and a large number of boxing fans are rooting for him to reach that maximum potential.
