By Allan Fox: Devin Haney will show off his “new & improved” game against George Kambosos Jr this Saturday, October 15th, in Melbourne, Australia. The two will be headlining a Top Rank-promoted show on ESPN & ESPN+. The start time for the event is 10:30 p.m.

Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs) was soundly beaten last June by Haney (28-0, 15 KOs), and it’s pretty clear that he’s not taken the loss well. The former unified lightweight champion Kambosos has worked hard in the gym ever since, making improvements in his game.

In the mitt workouts, Haney looks much more powerful than he was the last time he fought Kambosos, and it’s fair to say that he will be shooting for a knockout on Saturday.

It will be a major embarrassment for Kambosos if he gets knocked out by Haney on Saturday. Hopefully, Kambosos doesn’t react negatively if that happens, disappears in shame, hiding away from his fans, and turns into a hermit.

There’s a right way and a wrong way for a fighter to deal with a defeat. The right way is to face their fans and let them know they tried. The wrong way would be for the fighter to isolate themselves in a cabin high up on a mountain and disappear from society.

We’d hate to see Kambosos give up his career after a second loss to the 23-year-old Haney and hide from the public.

“Everything is looking good. As you see, Devin is looking amazing,” said Bill Haney to Fighthype about Devin Haney’s readiness for Saturday’s rematch with George Kambosos Jr.

“You can see the aura in our team, you can feel the confidence and you can feel our energy. The people in Melbourne have been great to us. You can already see what’s happening. We’re ready to go.

We’ve been running through sparring partners. Like I said, you’re going to see a new and improved Devin. In four months, he got right back in the gym. We adjusted some things, and you’ll see a new & improved Devin.

“If we knew that it was going to be this great and the people in Melbourne were going to be this good to us, we would have signed up to come here three times.

“I don’t know what he said, but I’m sure he’s anxious to fight him,” said Bill when asked what Haney said to Kambosos during the face-off upstairs.

“It’s a lot easier, and we knew what to expect. I’m happy to be back,” said Haney about his thoughts on coming to Australia for a second time.
