Usyk wants to fight Deontay Wilder if Fury match doesn’t happen

By Charles Brun: Oleksandr Usyk says he wants to fight former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder if the Tyson Fury match fails to happen.

Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) is arguably the next best option for IBF, WBA & WBO champion Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) if his first choice of Fury doesn’t take place.

Putting a fight together with the 6’7″ Deontay would be infinitely easier than negotiating with Fury, whose recent wins have gone to his head.

With the way Fury is talking, you can’t trust him that a fight can be successfully negotiated. He’s talking about wanting $500 million, and while that’s obviously him trolling, one gets the sense that he’s going to be demanding unrealistic money for the Usyk fight.

If you’re Usyk, you should put Fury to the side and take the lucrative fight against Wilder next, as that’s one that will attract interest worldwide rather than in just the UK.

Fury is popular in his home country of the UK, but he’s not a big name with the casual boxing fans in the U.S. They don’t know who he is.

“We’ll see. I don’t want to make empty statements. I could still box with Fury or with Wilder, but that’s where my interest ends,” said Oleksandr Usyk to talkSPORT about wanting to fight Deontay Wilder if the Tyson Fury fight doesn’t happen.

Yeah, it’s pointless for Usyk to fight Anthony Joshua again because he’s pretty much a mental basket case at this point. The only options for Usyk are Fury and Wilder.

If you want to look at it from a realistic standpoint, Wilder is really the only option because Fury is going to ask for too much green for the fight to be made.

Usyk should let Fury stew until after he faces Wilder, and hopefully, by then, he’ll have come back down to earth & will drop his money demands.

He wants to fight against me. He wants people to talk about him,” said Usyk to Sky Sports about Fury. “He hasn’t retired yet; it’s just a game – ‘I’m leaving boxing,’ ‘I’m coming back.’ He still wants to earn money.

“Tyson Fury loves to talk. All of that blah blah blah,” said Usyk.

I totally agree with Usyk. Fury is all mouth, blabbering about this or that, and always talking about retirement. It’s so tiresome.
