By Jim Calfa: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis posted on Instagram today, saying that he’s returning to the ring in December. Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) didn’t say who his opponent would be, however.
We know that unbeaten social media star Ryan Garcia wants the Tank Davis fight something awful, but it’s unclear if it’ll happen in December.
The Tank-Garcia fight might need to marinate a little more, as the 23-year-old Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) hasn’t fought anyone of quality during his career, and it’s pretty obvious to many boxing fans that he’s being carefully maneuvered for a big cash-out payday that he’s in no way prepared for.
Ryan could make the Tank Davis fight so much bigger if he were to beat one or two of these fighters:
- Vasyl Lomachenko
- Devin Haney
- Subriel Matias
- Gary Antuanne Russell
- Isaac Cruz
- Jose Zepeda
- Regis Prograis
- Teofimo Lopez
Since it’s unlikely that Ryan Garcia will fight any of the above-mentioned fighters, the best thing Tank Davis can do is let the fight marinate longer because it’s not big enough yet.
If Ryan is unwilling to fight quality opposition in his hurry for a cash-out against Tank Davis, then he needs to be put on ice and ignored for two or three years until he beats enough tomato cans to build a following in the boxing world. Right now, Ryan has a huge following of over 10 million subscribers to his Instagram site, but those aren’t necessarily boxing fans.
Speaking of Issac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, he’s hoping to earn a rematch with Tank Davis by beating Eduardo Ramirez this Sunday night on FOX Sports PPV at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles. It’s up to Tank whether he wants to give Pitbull Cruz a rematch so soon.
Tank and Devin Haney had words this week on Twitter. It all started when a fan noted that Haney is fighting more like Tank Davis now.

Gervonta Davis: “He wants to be me so bad,” said Gervonta Davis on Twitter about Devin Haney trying to be him.
Devin Haney: “They say everything else, but they won’t say, ‘Let’s fight.’ What is he talking about?”
Tank Davis: “He knows who is who. I mean, you do too.”
