Tyson Fury confirms “This is my last fight and it will be”

By Scott Gilfoid: An irritable Tyson Fury told the media today that his fight against Dillian Whyte this Saturday night will absolutely be his last and that he’ll be retiring afterward.

Fury was snapping at the media left & right, and not enjoying himself in responding to their simple questions. When it came to questions about fighting the Anthony Joshua – Oleksandr Usyk winner, Fury immediately started talking about retirement.

The way WBC heavyweight champion Fury was worked up to a boiling froth today when being questioned, his mind seems scattered ahead of his title defense against the hard-hitting Whyte at the Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Something or someone has thrown Fury’s mind off-kilter this week and it’s not a good time for him to be losing it.

Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) added that he WON’T be fighting the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk rematch because he’s retiring. Moreover, Fury says he doesn’t care who wins that fight.

Fury’s decision to retire without fighting the Joshua-Usyk 2 rematch could be viewed as a sign that he’s getting cold feet, believing that he would wind up getting humiliated, particularly if he faces Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs).

Even if it’s not Usyk, Fury would have his hands full against the straight power shots from Joshua. It’s believed that the way Joshua throws his shots straight down the pipe, he would be murderous for Fury to fight a guy like that.

I’ve said this is my last fight and it will be,” said Tyson Fury during his open workout today for his title defense against Dillian Whyte on Saturday.

“The prediction of the fight is, I don’t give a damn because I’ve got Dillian Whyte to deal with myself,” said Fury when asked for a prediction on the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr rematch. “Do I want the winner? Nope, because I’m retiring after the fight,” said Fury

It’s hard not to see the timing of his retirement talk as a case of Fury losing his nerve, and not wanting any parts of mixing it with the big dogs Usyk and Joshua.

Gilfoid hates to say it but it’s just as well that Fury retires after the Whyte fight because it saves him the potential humiliation of being sent into retirement by Usyk or AJ later this year.

At least by Fury bowing out now, he saves himself the indignity of being sent out on his back by Joshua or being clowned by Usyk for 12 rounds.

The way Fury is sounding angry, and totally worked up, there’s an excellent change Whyte sends him into retirement with a big fat loss.

Speaking about fat, Fury is looking very flabby around the midsection and doesn’t look like he’s done nearly enough training. His physique looks like he’s about to start training camp, not ending it. I mean, wow, how did he get so fat?

“Camp went fantastic, we’re injury-free and in the best shape of our lives, and it’s all great,” said Fury.
