John Fury: Dillian Whyte will quit on his stool

By Barry Holbrook: John Fury says Dillian Whyte will quit on his stool complaining of a shoulder injury when the going gets tough in his title fight against WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on April 23rd.

John feels that Dillian (28-2, 19 KOs) lacks the experience, ring IQ, and talent to compete with Fury (31-0-1, 22 KOs) when they meet in their mega-fight at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Like many fans, John was amused by  Whyte’s no-show at Tuesday’s kickoff press conference to begin promoting the Fury-Whyte fight on April 23rd.

John feels that the reason Whyte chose not to take part in the promotion was his fear of being humiliated by Tyson, who wouldn’t have been able to match verbally.

John Fury: Whyte couldn’t deal with Tyson

“They don’t want to have a meltdown in front of Tyson, does he? He knows that Tyson is the king of the ring but also the king of the head games,” said John Fury to talkSPORT Boxing on Dillian Whyte failing to show during Tuesday’s kickoff press conference in London.

“He’s just not intelligent enough to deal with Tyson. It’s good that he didn’t come because he and his family and entourage would have looked very stupid today and it probably would have been a punch up.

“We had a good crew with us and we weren’t bothered with having a scrap but the main thing is, he couldn’t deal with Tyson’s brainpower.

“He’s [Fury] ticking over at the moment, we’re ahead of schedule and his weight is right. We’ll train for this man on the picture [Whyte] like any other man.

“He’s defending his WBC world heavyweight title, and we want to make sure he gets the win,” said John Fury about Whyte. “We won’t underestimate nobody.

“Tyson is too intelligent, too slick and he beats him in every department. Not just this gentleman, any other man. I haven’t seen any other heavyweights out there that can even come close to Tyson.

Dillian will quit on his stool

“Absolutely none. None whatsoever,” said John when asked what threat that Whyte poses to Fury. “We just got to play with him just like a cat would play with a ball. We’ll play with him, and when he [Fury] thinks he’s had enough of the games, he’ll knock him out.

“Tyson can knock him out anytime he wants, to be honest with you. He’s a good kid, he’s done this and done that, but he’s not boxed the people that Tyson has boxed. He doesn’t have the world experience that Tyson has.

“Tyson is just too good in all departments, and he’ll [Whyte] come in swinging. When he runs out of ideas, he’ll get sick of it and that’ll be it. I see him quitting on his stool, to tell you the truth. He’s not going to want to be carried out. He’ll quit on his stool, ‘My arm’s gone.

“It’s happened before, hasn’t it?” said Fury about Whyte. We’ve got the pending war abroad,” said John when asked what happens after Fury beats Dillian. “It started with the Polish people and Hitler, and then we had a world war.

“This could end up the same way. We could end up involved in it. Let’s just deal with Dillian Whyte today. Deal with him and get him out of the way and then see how the world is after the 23rd of April,” said John.

“It doesn’t make any sense at all,” said Gareth A. Davies to talkSPORT on Whyte not showing up at the kickoff press conference for his fight with Fury.

“They wanted more money to get here and a private jet…It doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s about money, isn’t it? It’s wrong in my view, and I wish there was a way of fining people for not turning up for things like this.

“I think it’s unprofessional. Dillian Whyte will have his own reasons when he gets to fight week in telling us why. I’m sure it’s not something he wants to do. I’m sure he would want to avoid Tyson Fury.

“It’s an opportunity to stoke the fire eight or nine weeks out before the fight game. It doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s just not normal,” said Davies.

“His kids will ask him, ‘Where were you, dad? Why weren’t you at the press conference?’ later on in life, and he won’t be able to answer,” said Tyson Fury. “He knows what’s coming, the freight train.”

“I think it is all about Tyson unless Dillian pulls off an amazing victory on the night,” said Davies. “Fury put his finger on the pulse by saying this is the ‘Tyson Fury roadshow.’ That’s what they’re selling here.”

Joshua vs. Usyk II won’t happen

“Unless there’s an abrupt in Ukraine and Russia, I don’t think you’re going to see it, are you?” said John when asked about what will happen with the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk II rematch.

“It’s impossible because one [Oleksandr] is running up and down with a gun in his hand, playing soldier for his country [Ukraine], well he should do. He’s defending his country like the Klitschko brothers.

“His mind won’t be on boxing, and his mind won’t be on Anthony Joshua. His mind will be on being a gun soldier and defending his country.

“The Ukrainian people should be proud of him. You can say a small prayer for all those Russian guys that didn’t want the war. There’s a lot of guys out there that have to do this and have to do that because their president said they’ve got to do it.

“My thoughts are with all those Russian guys that don’t want this war. Not everybody is a warmonger,” said John Fury.

Promoter Eddie Hearn will be highly upset if John’s prediction about the Joshua vs. Uysk 2 rematch not happening because he’s under the impression that it’s going to take place in May or June.

It’s not a good sign that Usyk has signed up with the Ukraine defense battalion. Hearn said this week that he’s going to be speaking with Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk this week to nail down a date for the fight.
