Ryan Garcia facing Isaac Cruz in comeback fight says coach Henry G

By Huck Allen: Coach Henry Garcia confirmed on Sunday that his son lightweight contender Ryan Garcia would be fighting Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz in his comeback fight after hand surgery.

Garcia-Cruz will be an excellent shootout for as long as it lasts and an actual 50-50 contest between these two sluggers. If the 5’4″ Pitbull Cruz can get inside on the tall 5’10” King Ryan Garcia, he could make things difficult.

Ryan will be enjoying a six-inch height and a seven-inch reach advantage over Pitbull Cruz, which can mean only one thing. Cruz will be coming forwards all night long, trying to get on the inside to tag Ryan with hard shots.

Hopefully, nothing gets in the way to keep Ryan from taking the fight with the former lightweight world title challenger Pitbull Cruz because there will be many disappointed fans if he doesn’t happen.

Pitbull Cruz = rugged style match-up for Ryan

Ryan (21-0, 18 KOs) still needs more work before his surgically repaired right hand is 100%, but it should be soon to take on Cruz (22-2-1, 15 KOs).

Facing Pitbull Cruz will be an opportunity for the 23-year-old King Ry to show the boxing world what he can do against a fighter that Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis struggled to beat on December 5th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Beating Pitbull Cruz by a knockout would be a significant achievement for Ryan Garci, allowing him to show the difference between his talent and that of Tank Davis.

Pitbull Cruz gave Tank the fight of his life in taking him the full 12 round distance and coming close to pulling off a major upset. That performance from Pitbull Cruz made an overnight sensation in the U.S, which is why Ryan and his team are looking to capitalize on his popularity.

Henry Garcia confirms Pitbull Cruz fight

“I will delete your post because there’s no reason to hate or spread lies that now Ryan is ducking Cruz which is not true,” said coach Henry Garcia on Instagram. “I repeat NOT TRUE. In fact, we will embrace that fight as our first come-back fight.

“Your hearing this from me his dad. Once Ryan has a full recovery he will come back stronger and accept whoever they put in front of him. Will start where he left off with just solid knockouts like before. Stay tuned, guys. Next year will be our year.”

The difference in experience between Isaac Cruz and Ryan Garcia is extensive, considering that Pitbull has faced far better opposition.

It’s hard to believe that at 23, Cruz has already fought Gervonta Davis and former WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas.

Cruz has recent wins over these fighters:

  • Francisco Vargas
  • Jose Matias Romero
  • Diego Magdaleno
  • Thomas Mattice
  • Jose Felix
  • Eleazar Valenzuela
  • Miguel Angel Perez Aispuro
