By Allan Fox: Heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) made a statement last Saturday night with his second knockout victory over Oleksandr Teslenko (17-2, 13 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Anderson has worked with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in sparring, and he’s already predicting that he’ll capture a title soon. We’ll see if Fury’s prediction comes true.

Fighting in the chief support bout, the 22-year-old Anderson knocked Teslenko (17-2, 13 KOs) in the second round with a jab followed by a powerful straight right and a left hook.

Teslenko couldn’t get back to his feet to resume the bout and the fight was then stopped by referee Danny Schiavone at 1:32 of the second round.

The power and combination punching ability that the 6’4″ Anderson possesses sets him apart from the other heavyweights in the division.

Anderson prides himself on his defense and wasn’t entirely happy that Teslenko was able to hit him with some shots.

Jared Anderson believes he’s the next great heavyweight

“I’m extremely confident. I’ve always had confidence build in me, and it’s just a natural thing,” said Jared Anderson to Fighthype. “I’m confident and I know I’m the next great heavyweight.

“If you don’t believe it, keep watching it and I’ll prove it to you,” said Anderson. “I got hit with a right hand. That was my ultimate takeaway, and that was what we were trying to avoid.

“I got a little wild in the first round, and I was a little eager. It took me a second to settle down, but as you can see, we got the job done.

“My face is fine, my hands are fine, and my feet are fine. So let’s get back at it as soon as possible,” said Jared.

“I believe I did [get hit too much], so I got a lot of work to do and reviewing of the fight but I came out pretty good. I’m victorious

“It’s another win and another tally on the mark, so we’re going forward. As soon as the boxing commissions allow me. That was an eight round fight, so I know I’m not in the rankings yet,” Anderson said.

It’s difficult to know right now whether Jared will be the next great heavyweight because he needs to fight someone soon so he can prove it.

Anderson wants to get in the rankings

“As soon as we can get those fights when people take them for ten rounds and get in those rankings.

“He’s a lot farther in his career right now,” said Anderson about Tyson Fury. “I’m not even in the rankings yet. Y’all pushing me when you ask me, but business is business. If they put the right paperwork in front of me, we can fight,” said Jared.

Once Anderson’s in the rankings, it’ll be interesting to see him fighting it out against the top 15 contenders.
